New Jazz Musical FOR THE LAST TIME to Receive Industry Reading This Week

FOR THE LAST TIME is a new jazz musical by celebrated writer/composer Nancy Harrow (Maya The Bee, This Side of Paradise), directed by Will Pomerantz (The Blue Flower) with music direction by Cody Owen Stine, will get an invite-only industry reading on March 13, 2015.

Alley Theatre Names Elizabeth Frankel Director of New Work

Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announced today that Elizabeth Frankel has been appointed to join the Alley Theatre as the Director of New Work. Frankel will begin in her new position in June, 2015. Elizabeth Frankel is currently the Literary Manager at The Public Theater in New York where she runs the Literary Department and the Emerging Writers Group.

DM Playhouse to Host Stage Management Workshop, 3/14

Ever wondered how a live theatre show comes together each night? Or maybe you know that stage managers possess the steady hand and calm voice once a production opens and you'd like to learn more. The Des Moines Community Playhouse is holding a free workshop in stage management, 1:30-4:00 PM, Saturday, Mar. 14. The workshop is open to the public. The Skivvies are joined by local favorites Matthew McGee and Joey Panek for a wild night of uncensored and sexy fun.

MCC Theater Rounds Out 2015-16 Season with Halley Feiffer's 'A FUNNY THING...'

MCC THEATER has announced the final production of its four-show 2015-16 Main Stage Season, which runs August 2015 through June 2016. Playwright Halley Feiffer (I'm Gonna Pray For You So Hard) will make her MCC Theater debut with her play A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York City. Trip Cullman returns to direct after helming this season's critically acclaimed hit Punk Rock. Full details below. This also marks the reunion of Feiffer and Cullman following their hit production of I'm Gonna Pray For You So Hard at the Atlantic Theater Company in early 2015.

Circle X Theatre Co Presents Laurie Metcalf and Jimmi Simpson in TREVOR, Beginning Tonight

Circle X Theatre Co. is thrilled to announce the West Coast premiere of TREVOR, written by Nick Jones (Writer/Co-Producer 'Orange is the New Black') and directed by Stella Powell-Jones, starring Laurie Metcalf and Jimmi Simpson. Playhouse on the Square's 2015-16 Season to Feature BILLY ELLIOT, BUYER AND CELLAR & More

The 2015 - 2016 season at Playhouse on the Square will begin with the heart-warming and inspiring Billy Elliot the Musical. The Broadway hit garnered ten Tony Awards in 2009, including Best Musical. Set in an English mining town against the turbulent and violent 1984 miners' strike, Billy Elliot the Musical tells the tale of a young boy who trades his boxing gloves for dancing shoes and inspires audiences to believe in themselves.

Center Stage's Amy Herzog Festival Begins 3/18

Center Stage announces the casts and crew of the Amy Herzog Festival, the first time Herzog's 4000 Miles and After the Revolution will be produced together. The festival is March 18 to May 24, with the plays alternating every two weeks.

Jess Goldstein, Douglas W. Schmidt & More to Receive 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards

Tony Award-winning costume designer, JESS GOLDSTEIN (currently represented on Broadway with Jersey Boys and On the Town), and scenic designer DOUGLAS W. SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

Natalie Birriel's SPEAK! Set for Rough Draft Festival, 3/28

Natalie Birriel is proud to announce a performance of her autobiographical solo show Speak! at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center on March 28th at 7:30 pm. Directed by Andreas Robertz, Speak! is a 90's music driven show about Natalie's journey from being a stutterer who couldn't say her own name to not being able to shut up! Speak! is a heartbreakingly funny and inspirational tale for anyone who has ever felt held back from saying what they truly wanted to say! This special performance is part of the Rough Draft Festival at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City.

Tony Nominee Euan Morton Bringing I (HEART) THE CARPENTERS to 54 Below in June

Following a sold-out 2013 debut at 54 Below, Tony Award nominee Euan Morton returns to the acclaimed Manhattan nightspot to launch his newest project, I (Heart) THE CARPENTERS. Backed by the newly-formed Downey CA Collective, Mr. Morton will perform songs made famous by the all-American jazz/pop duo Richard and Karen Carpenter. With songs from composers such as Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Paul Williams, Roger Nichols, Leon Russell, John Bettis and Richard Carpenter himself, I (Heart) THE CARPENTERS is fresh take - both extremely personal and totally universal - on mid-20th Century American pop genius, designed to be an emotional trip down memory lane for some and an exciting, memory-making first meeting for others. Diane Lane and Tony Shalhoub Star in LCT's THE MYSTERY OF LOVE AND SEX, Opening Tonight

Lincoln Center Theater welcomes Mamoudou Athie, Diane Lane, Gayle Rankin, and Tony Shalhoub in its production of The Mystery of Love and Sex, a new play by Bathsheba Doran. The production, which is directed by Sam Gold, began previews on February 5 and opens tonight, March 2, at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

World Premiere Theatre at CT Repertory Theatre

This week Connecticut Repertory Theatre will open a new adaptation of Lysistrata by Jen Wineman and the world premiere of Band of the Black Hand, a collaboration with Split Knuckle Theatre. CRT launched its season with Michael Bradford's Olives and Blood, a new play that had only been produced twice before.
