by Rose Marija

On June 16, 2015, I was privileged to be in attendance at the Metropolitan Opera House for Misty Copeland's debut performance of Juliet in Sir Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet, set to Sergei Prokofiev's exciting score. This ballet has been in ABT's repertory since 1985, with scenery and costumes by Nicholas Georgiadis and lighting by Thomas Skelton. BWW Interviews: Kinglsey Leggs of SISTER ACT - Art with Intention
by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold
- Jun 24, 2015
'If you build it they will come. If you want diversity in the theatre, you have to build that diversity from the ground up. You can't just expect it to happen.' Actor Kingsley Leggs is speaking with quiet intensity about his passion for theatre, music, and dance and his belief that theatre must not only please, but also educate and empower its audiences. These are beliefs he has honed in a long career which has taken him from his native St. Louis to Broadway, regional theatre, and television.
As he recounts his story, he is taking a break on what he calls 'a three show day' at Maine State Music Theatre, where he is in the last week of performances of The Full Monty and set to open June 25th in Sister Act. He has just finished the morning rehearsal and will soon head over to the theatre for a matinee and evening show. For all the obvious demands of this schedule, he appears relaxed and animated. He tells the story of how he came to be in Brunswick this summer:

BWW Reviews: Designing Women with Kenneth MacMillan
by Melia Kraus-har
- Jun 23, 2015
American Ballet Theatre's 75th anniversary spring season honored the legacy of the company's seasoned dancers and showcased its younger ranks. Mixed bills displaying a range of classic and neo-classic roles segued into ABT's strongest realm: the story ballet. Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie offered his artists as heroes and heroines. From 'Othello' to 'Giselle' to 'La Bayadere' to Ratmansky's 'The Sleeping Beauty' to Monday, June 15th's 'Romeo and Juliet' at Lincoln Center's Metropolitan Opera House, his dancers remained in a stratosphere of romanticism.
