Waitress is shaking things up at the diner (but not too many things)! Academy Award nominee June Squibb (Nebraska) will join the company as "Josie", the role formerly known as "Joe", from November 19- January 6, 2019. This will mark the first time this role will be played by a woman. The show's leading lady Nicolette Robinson, has extended her stay at the diner until December 9.
Sing Away the Stigma is a heartfelt, honest, life-affirming evening of brand-new songs by emerging musical theater composers and lyricists, inspired by true-life stories of those with mental health challenges. A dozen people from different backgrounds and walks of life, all living with a mental health condition, were interviewed and had their stories of struggle, strength, and hope turned into songs, which will be performed for the first time in this concert. Sing Away the Stigma is a testament to the power of musical theater, the strength of those living with mental illness, and the unique bond formed when the two meet.

PlayGround continues its 25th season of its celebrated Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series on Monday, November 26, 8 PM at Berkeley Repertory Theatre's Roda Theatre. The topic for November's round, announced this morning, is "FALL DOWN, GET UP". Members of the 2018-19 PlayGround Writers Company have just four-and-a-half days to generate their original ten-minute plays inspired by the topic. The top six scripts will each receive an hour-and-a-half rehearsal and a professional script-in-hand staged reading at Berkeley Rep on November 26. PlayGround writers in Los Angeles are working simultaneously on the same prompt and their finalists will be presented at Hollywood's Broadwater Mainstage (home of Sacred Fools Theatre Company) on November 12. 10 Hairy Legs will provide the Dance to Learn program to all second grade students at iPrep Academy and George Washington School #1 in Elizabeth, NJ in Fall 2018. The Creative Movement Residency includes 14 consecutive weekly classes during the school day taught to 100 students by 10 Hairy Legs Teaching Artist Shawn Brush. Brush works actively as a professional dancer as well as a Teaching Artist. Brush graduated Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University earning BFA's in Dance. The professional company will perform at Jerome Dunn Academy on Thursday, December 20 at 9:30 am with students participating in the program. The performance is free and open to the community.

Directed by Christopher Annino, 'Silent Times' is a Roaring-Twenties escapade set in a small New England town. The story centers on Oliver Henry III (played by Geoff Blanchette), a small-time crook turned vaudeville theater owner. From humble beginnings in England, he immigrates to America in search of happiness and fast cash. He becomes acquainted with people from all walks of life, from burlesque performers, mimes, hobos to classy flapper girls. As his fortunes rise his life spins out of control. Much of the storyline is a reflection on current social issues that burden our society today.
