Last night, September 28, Green Day frontman and the musical's composer/ co-author Billie Joe Armstrong made his Broadway debut as 'St. Jimmy' at the St. James Theatre in AMERICAN IDIOT. Armstrong will perform through Sunday, October 3, 2010. Immediately following this engagement, Mr. Armstrong will join Green Day in Caracas, Venezuela on October 8, 2010 to kick off their South American Tour. Last night, September 27, the 2010 New York Musical Theatre Festival celebrated its official opening night, hosted by Baz Lurhmann. Some of the many guests on hand to celebrate were Claire Danes ('Romeo + Juliet', 'The Hours'), Anthony Rapp (Rent), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent), Tamara Tunie (Law and Order: SVU), Kerry Butler (Xanadu), Liz Larsen (The Most Happy Fella), Liz McCartney (Taboo), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), Tom Hewitt (The Rocky Horror Show), Max Von Essen (Les Miserables), Curtis Holbrook (West Side Story), Chip Zien (Into the Woods), Diedre Goodwin (Chicago), and many more.

The producers of the critically acclaimed AMERICAN IDIOT announced today that Green Day frontman and the musical's composer/ co-author Billie Joe Armstrong will make his Broadway debut as "St. Jimmy" Tuesday, September 28 through Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the St. James Theatre, 246 West 44 Street. Immediately following this engagement, Mr. Armstrong will join Green Day in Caracas, Venezuela on October 8, 2010 to kick off their South American Tour. Original Broadway cast member and current "St. Jimmy," Tony Vincent, will resume performances on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 following a leave of absence due to a personal family matter. Vincent's understudies, Joshua Kobak and Andrew Call, will cover the role from Tuesday, October 5 - Sunday, October 10, 2010.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed "Best of New York" by New York Magazine, and "an invaluable New York institution" by The New York Post, continues its Fall 2010 season with the debut engagement of Broadway star and three-time Tony Award nominee KELLI O'HARA from October 19 - 30.

From April 28, 2011 through May 28, 2011, the Melbourne Theatre Company will present the Australian premiere of the 2010 Pulitzer-Prize winning Broadway hit, Next To Normal. The production, which is being directed by Dean Bryant and musical directed by Matthew Frank, will star Matt Hetherington and Kate Kendall. Additional casting announcements are forthcoming.

As reported previously, the video game 'Green Day: Rock Band,' was released in June. Now, the cast of AMERCAN IDIOT will be participating in a Green Day: Rock Band competition at the Village Pourhouse (366 West 46th Street), on Thursday, September 23. At the event, which is to be held at 10 pm, patrons will be able to challange the cast at the many Green Day tunes included in the game.

Last night, September 13, the cast of AMERICAN IDIOT joined Green Day onstage for the halftime show of the NY Jets game at the New Meadowlands Stadium, performing a rendition of Green Day's Last Of The American Girls. The performance, which was cut short by ESPN, was aired in full on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night. Click below to watch the halftime show!

According to the Associated Press, cast members from Amerrican Idiot will be joining Green Day to perform at the New York Jets season opener on September 13. The performance will take place at half-time at New Meadowlands Stadium and will include the song 'Last of the American Girls'.

Tickets will go on sale Sunday, September 12, for the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical 'Next to Normal,' which is being presented at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre, November 23, 2010, through January 2, 2011. The opening is scheduled for November 28.
