Irondale Center Presents TREASURE ISLAND, 3/5-26

Over a decade in the making, Tony Award recipient B.H. Barry's Treasure Island will set sail in Brooklyn this February. Based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, adapted for the stage by Vernon Morris and B.H. Barry, Treasure Island, which is also directed by Barry, will begin performances on February 15 and will open on Saturday, March 5 at Brooklyn's Irondale Center (85 South Oxford Street) and will run through Saturday, March 26, 2011. Ticket prices range from $20-$45 and can be purchased by visiting www.Irondale.org or by calling Ovation Tix 866 811 4111.

Will Adrian Noble Helm 'The King's Speech' on UK Stage?

Whatsonstage.com suggests today that The King's Speech, currently out in theaters starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter, may be getting a stage adaptation in London. According to the report: 'Speaking to the New York Times at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards, the film's writer David Seidler - who is nominated for a best original screenplay Oscar - said: 'It will be on the West End of London in the fall, and Adrian Noble is directing it.'

Jermyn Street Theatre Closes BLACK BREAD & CUCUMBER, 10/23

Jermyn Street Theatre bring back BLACK BREAD & CUCUMBER in a strictly limited season from October 5th to the 23rd after a nine year absence. The play celebrates Anton Chekhov's 150 birthday as Caroline Blakiston does this acclaimed one-woman show about how she made history as the first British actress to play Chekhov in Russia, in Russian.

The Royal Shakespeare Company's 44 member acting ensemble will perform five plays by William Shakespeare at Park Avenue Armory as part of Lincoln Center Festival next summer. Lincoln Center Festival and Park Avenue Armory, in association with The Ohio State University, are bringing the Royal Shakespeare Company to New York for this six-week engagement. This unprecedented theatrical event takes place July 6 through August 14, 2011.
