BWW EXCLUSIVE: Ruben Santiago-Hudson Talks Fine Arts Center Gala, New TV Series PUBLIC MORALS, Williamstown Premiere Of PARADISE BLUE & More

Today we are talking to a Tony Award-winning actor, playwright and director all about his many current and upcoming endeavors, the charismatic and versatile Ruben Santiago-Hudson. Besides working on both sides of the footlights as an actor and director, Hudson also has several film and television projects in the ether and recently released - among them, 2015 Academy Award-winning film SELMA, a new TV series executive produced by Stephen Spielberg titled PUBLIC MORALS, a brand new follow-up to his acclaimed multi-award-winning play LACKAWANNA BLUES and more. Most importantly, Hudson shares details about presenting a special award to Phylicia Rashad at the Global Concepts Charter High School's Ruben Santiago-Hudson Fine Arts Center later this week and what the award signifies. Furthermore, Hudson reflects on his iconic collaborations with legendary playwright August Wilson and his ongoing work in keeping the legacy of Wilson's work alive through star-studded live performances of his many notable plays, including last year's unprecedented presentation of all 10 plays in Wilson's canonical century cycle. The Western Wind Ensemble to Performance at West End Theatre, 5/28-31

THE WESTERN WIND ENSEMBLE, the award-winning vocal sextet, is pleased to announce their upcoming performances of Orazio Vecchi'sL'AMFIPARNASO directed by Gama Valle. L'AMFIPARNASO will play a four performances only at The West End Theatre (263 west 86th Street New York, NY 10024). Performances are a preview on Thursday, May 28th at 8:00pm, Friday, May 29th at 8:00pm, Saturday, May 30th at 8:00pm and Sunday, May 31st at 8:00pm.

Tommy Hilfiger Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Exclusive Fashion Show and New Store in China

Tommy Hilfiger, which is owned by PVH Corp., announced that Mr. Tommy Hilfiger will visit Beijing, China, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his namesake brand. Between May 24 and 26, Mr. Hilfiger will host events throughout Beijing including an exclusive recreation of his Fall 2015 Hilfiger Collection runway show, which marks the first time the brand is bringing the event to an international setting. Debuted at New York Fashion Week in February, the Fall 2015 collection is inspired by American football, fusing stadium spirit and varsity motifs with Hilfiger's classic American sportswear designs. The complete show experience will be transported to Beijing for the runway event, which will include looks from the men's and women's collections and take place against the celebrated backdrop of Hilfiger's football stadium set.

Mercury to Close Out 14th Season with All-Beethoven Evening

Mercury closes out the 2014-15 season with an all-Beethoven concert led by Artistic Director Antoine Plante featuring the composer's beloved Eighth Symphony and Triple Concerto on Friday, May 16 at 8 PM at the Wortham Center's Cullen Theater.  The rarely heard Triple Concerto will feature Mercury concertmaster Jonathan Godfrey, principal cellist Kevin Downs and guest pianist, Wendy Chen, playing on an 1832 Bosendorfer 80-key fortepiano, on loan from the Moores School of Music.  The Eighth Symphony is the penultimate performance in Mercury's cycle of Beethoven symphonies, which started in 2009 and will conclude next May in Mercury's 15th Anniversary Season finale with Symphony No. 9, "Choral".  This concert is sponsored in part by Haynes and Boone with underwriting support from Hans and Lili Kirchner, Vey and Brigid Spin, and Stephen and Kristine Wallace.  Tickets start at $18, to purchase or for more information visit www.mercuryhouston.org or call 713.533.0080.

PSO Viva Verdi! Concert to Feature Johnson, Lattimore, Borichevsky, & Russell, 5/17

On Sunday, May 17, at 4 pm at Richardson Auditorium, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents Viva Verdi!, an opera extravaganza featuring excerpts from Giuseppe Verdi's most popular works and spotlighting gifted young opera stars Michelle Johnson, soprano; Margaret Lattimore, mezzo; Zach Borichevsky, tenor; and Hugh Russell, baritone. Conducted by PSO Music Director Rossen Milanov, the afternoon's selections from Il Trovatore's complicated story of war, revenge and love, La Traviata's portrayal of a soul-searching courtesan, and Aida's tale of impossible love in an exotic setting will serve as a fitting encore to last season's bicentennial celebration of Verdi's birth.

The Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles Present Their Season Finale Concerts, 5/9-10

A festival of awe-inspiring musical performances awaits as the dedicated students of Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles (PSYE) present three season finale performances after an enriching season of musical growth. Bursting with youthful energy and stimulating music, the weekend kicks off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, with Pacific Symphony Santiago Strings (PSSS), as it invites the audience to experience “How Suite It Is,” an artistic celebration of the orchestral suite and its adaptations over time. On Sunday, May 10 at 1 p.m., Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble (PSYWE) dives into works old and new during “Collaborations,” which includes Bach's Fantasia in G Major, Katoh's “Madrid Inspiration” featuring guest saxophonist Kenneth Tse, and the world premiere of “The Rising Tide” by Pacific Symphony Composer-in-Residence Narong Prangcharoen. At 7 p.m. on May 10, Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (PSYO) shines the spotlight on the four winners of this season's concerto competition and concludes with a musical journey through Soviet Russia by performing Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.

The Greene Space's AMERICAN CENTURY CYCLE Recordings, Featuring Phylicia Rashad & More, Online Now

In the fall of 2013, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC & WQXR undertook a historic undertaking: to record -- for the first time -- all 10 plays from August Wilson's lauded American Century Cycle. Those audio recordings, along with exclusive video excerpts and photographs from the readings, are now being made available for online streaming on a time-limited basis here until August 26, 2015.
