Sundance Institute announced today the films selected to screen in the 2015 Sundance Film Festival out-of-competition sections Spotlight and Park City at Midnight, as well as the films and installations to be featured in the New Frontier program. The Festival, which takes place January 22 to February 1 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah, is the centerpiece of the year-round public programs for the Institute, which also hosts 24 residency labs and grants more than $2.5 million to independent artists each year.
Telemundo's latest production “Tierra de Reyes” (Land of Honor) reached a cumulative audience of 2,161,000 total viewers and 1,206,000 adults 18 to 49 on premiere night, according to Nielsen. Starring Aarón Díaz, Ana Lorena Sánchez, Gonzalo García Vivanco, Kimberly Dos Ramos, Christian de la Campa and Scarlet Gruber, alongside Fabián Ríos and Sonya Smith as “Cayetana,” the premiere averaged 1,226,000 total viewers and 612,000 adults 18 to 49. “Tierra de Reyes” garnered a 10% growth in its time slot versus the last four weeks among adults 18-49 (612k vs. 558k). Locally, the novela ranked #1, among Spanish-language networks in its time slot, in Miami and Philadelphia, among adults 18-49.
'The Winter of April,' a Police Thriller partly inspired by the Gilgo Beach murders on Long Island in 2010, compares the fate of murdered sex workers with others who have been shadowed or forgotten by history, including those, like Ada Lovelace, who were at the forefront of science and technology. The play was written and structured by Ricardo Sarmiento Gaffurri from a concept by director Ramiro Antonio Sandoval and his Tabula RaSa NYC Theater & Performance Lab. It is mounted with ensemble acting, sophisticated audiovisuals and multimedia modeling. The piece protests society's tendency to tie sexual crimes to one perpetrator, when the individual is usually the tip of an iceberg--a global machine of human trafficking. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., NYC will present the play's world premiere tonight, December 4 to 21.
