The Best Bets for Kids and Family Theatre this Summer (again) Last week I shared some of my favorite summer offerings for Kids and Families looking for a little relaxation, entertainment and (yes thank you) air conditioning. We called it Summer Flash, and it was so popular that I'm back for part two. (Ok, I got complaints about not including some shows). But no worries! There's room in the BroadwayWorld Jr. sandbox for everyone to play! So here we go.....

Roundabout's Education Dramaturg, Ted Sod, sits down with The Importance of Being Earnest actors, David Furr and Sara Topham, to discuss the show, working with Brian Bedford and take questions from the audience as part of our Lecture Series.

It's hard to believe that this production will mark Roundabout's first time bringing you the work of the great Oscar Wilde. Wilde is one of the best-known literary figures of the late Victorian period, yet many people don't realize how few theatrical works he left behind. In fact, the very social hypocrisies that he satirizes in Earnest contributed to the shortening of this famous wit's career.

WaterTower theatre mounts Thornton Wilder's classic play with fine, unmannered performances in a production marked with technical distinction.

I revert to childhood when I see a Mel Brooks movie or show. The sillier the better: the sight gags, the double entendres, the more the merrier. The New Mel Brooks Musical, Young Frankenstein is a real rip-roaring hoot of a show from start to finish with a great cast and zippy fast-paced direction from Susan Stroman.

Harlem's Clyde Wilder, dance impresario of the Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Swing and Blues will teach a 4-week Swing dance courses at The Ailey Extension on Fridays beginning March 5, 2010. Classes will be held Fridays from 6-7pm at The Ailey Studios, located at The Joan Weill Center for Dance (405 West 55th Street at 9th Avenue).
