Beginning Sept. 21, Shelterhouse audiences can come along for the ride in THE ROOMMATE and watch two empty-nesters navigate the rocky roads of change. Part detective story, part meta-noir, this Kafkaesque meta comedy is a topsy-turvy quest that explores everything from the metaphysics of the time continuum to criminal clowns. Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival will premiere the work August 26 to September 3.

This fall, Goodman Theatre presents its New Stages Festival-a free annual celebration and discovery of new plays by some of the country's finest established and emerging playwrights. Audiences experience a first look at seven new works-including three fully staged developmental productions (performed in repertory) There's Always the Hudson by Paola Lazaro-Muñoz; Felons and Familias by Sandra Delgado; Graveyard Shift by Korde Arrington Tuttle. Princeton Summer Theater wraps up the summer season with Paula Vogel's The Baltimore Waltz, a moving production featuring three strong actors. Director Nico Krell hits the right notes. Sean Peter Drohan is endearing and honest. Evan Gedrich is versatile and dexterous. Abby Melick does a masterful job, as usual, filling the character Anna with enough heart and purpose to carry a complicated role through to the final dance. Through August 19th.

This comedic fantasy, written by Paula Vogel in response to the AIDS crisis, is a fierce portrait of two siblings' love and a call to live life to the fullest. The Baltimore Waltz follows Anna and Carl through Europe on a film-noir inspired trip, filled with mysterious detectives, devious doctors, and alluring men as they search for a cure for Anna's disease.
