Broadway enthusiasts, rejoice - the biggest day of the year for Broadway fans is less than three weeks away.

The Old Globe presents the West Coast premiere of OCTOBER SKY, which will blast off the Globe's 2016-2017 Season with a tale of boys, rockets, and big dreams. OCTOBER SKY will run September 10 - October 23, 2016 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. A mini GLEE reunion took place last night at the New York premiere of the new film SULLY at Lincoln Center.

Opening last night at Chapel off Chapel, Pursued By Bear's production of the 2013 Broadway musical First Date was a true delight. From the moment you enter the theatre Sarah Tulloch's set design established the tone for what was a very fun and enjoyable evening. The cafe inspired set, not only accompanies the story perfectly but enables the audience to feel as though they are in the cafe with the protagonists of the story. Those protagonists, Aaron (Jordan Mahr) and Casey (Rebecca Hetherington) take us on a riotous journey of their first blind date together. Mahr and Hetherington shine in their individual portrayals of the characters and work together brilliantly. Mahr in particular shines as the up tight, highly nervous Aaron, his version of 'In Love With You' is a musical highlight. 'The Thing's I Never Said' a stunning duet between Aaron and Aaron's mother (Nicole Molloy) is where First Date also shines. For while it stands up as a musical comedy it also has heart and touches on some very real, poignant moments highlighting that while we come in contact with so many people in our lives, often we do not know the burdens they are carrying or the stories that lie underneath the surface.

BARBECUE is a darkly funny new play that turns the traditional family comedy on its head, forcing hilarious and uneasy revelations about the assumptions we make about poverty, race and social class.

The Kennedy Center hosts its 15th annual Page-to-Stage New Play Festival from Today, September 3 to Monday, September 5, 2016, featuring more than 50 theaters from the D.C. metropolitan area, all with a mission to produce and support new work.

As announced yesterday, the ever-popular live #Ham4Ham shows for the Tony Award winning musical Hamilton will end following today's show. For the final #Ham4Ham show, Renee Elise Goldsberry performed a cut song titled 'Congratulations' at the request of Lin-Manuel, who is currently in Austria.
