After losing her father tragically to cancer, Juli experienced first-hand our culture's inability to deal with death. She was amazed that something inevitable was so uncomfortable for people who, in particular, seemed to struggle to find the right thing to say and do. In this 50-minute solo performance, Juli uses movement, text, song, gesture, sounds, humor and audience interaction to present a reflection on the awkwardness of death. Juli will be six months pregnant during the performance adding a layer of a piece about death while pregnant with life.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's 14th Anniversary Gala, It's All About the Art, took place on October 6, 2008 at Caroline's on Broadway in New York City. Rattlestick celebrated the many artistic talents involved in their productions with this year's Gala, It's All About the Art, which featured a cocktail reception, dinner and a luxury auction of unique items and experiences in the company of Rattlestick alumni and friends. There was also be special entertainment, and proceeds went directly to support Rattlestick's pioneering theatrical work.

Actress and playwright ELLEN MCLAUGHLIN, best known for originating the role of the Angel in Tony Kushner's 'ANGELS IN AMERICA', appearing in every U.S. production from its earliest workshops through its Broadway run, will present a workshop presentation of her new play 'PENELOPE' at NYU this fall.
