The Red Fern Theatre Company will present the World Premiere of We in Silence Hear a Whisper, written by Jon Kern and directed by Melanie Moyer Williams.

Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin), announced today seven productions for its inaugural 2012 season at Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street near 10th Avenue), the company's new Frank Gehry-designed permanent home opening in February 2012. Signature Center will allow the Company to expand its programming, introduce new initiatives, and build audiences. Featuring three intimate theatres, a studio theatre, rehearsal studio and a shared lobby with café and bookstore, Signature Center will be both a theatre community hub and a neighborhood destination.

Signature Theatre Company has just announced the playwrights participating in the Theatre's new Residency Five initiative, part of the expanded programming that will be presented at Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street, near 10th Avenue), the Company's new Frank Gehry-designed home. Annie Baker, Will Eno, Katori Hall, Kenneth Lonergan and Regina Taylor will be the program's inaugural playwrights.

MUNCHED was produced in 2009 in Los Angeles by Buzzworks Theater Company where it won the LA Drama Critics Circle award, The LA WEEKLY award and the McDonald Award for Playwriting excellence. The East coast premier of MUNCHED will be directed by Petronia Paley (Multiple AUDELCO award winner and legendary soap opera veteran.

After a memorable and record-breaking inaugural year, Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater celebrates its 61st anniversary season with Trouble in Mind, written by playwright Alice Childress. Childress was the first African-American woman to have her plays professionally produced in New York, and she became the first woman of color to win an Obie Award, in 1956 for Trouble in Mind (Best Original Production).

The Midtown International Theatre Festival (MITF) announces the 2010 Season, running from July 12 - August 1, 2010. 24 plays and five musicals have been chosen. All tickets are $18. Selected plays for SHORT SUBJECTS, a division for plays that run under 60 minutes, will be announced at a later date.

Residency One is Signature's core one year playwright-in-residence program that produces a series of plays from the body of work of one accomplished writer. The production, originally slated to run through July 10, 2011, will now play through Sunday, July 17, 2011. THE ILLUSION began previews Tuesday, May 17 at the Peter Norton Space (555 W. 42nd Street) with opening night scheduled for June 5.

Passage Theatre, Trenton's only professional theater company, is pleased to announce the New Jersey premiere of Mat Smart's two-person drama Samuel J. and K., a play which traces the complex bond between two brothers as they travel to the homeland of the younger. Directed by Jade King Carroll, performances end May 22 at the Mill Hill Playhouse, which is located 205 E. Front Street in Trenton's Historic Mill Hill district.
