The Hollywood Bowl's gigantic, often star-studded outdoor summer musical has through the years been one of the most anticipated annual concert events in Southern California. And this year, with their rousing revival of HAIRSPRAY, the hype actually delivered on its promise--for the most part. Genuinely the most charming, energetic staged musical the Hollywood Bowl has mounted in the past few years, HAIRSPRAY--which continues with just two more performances on August 6 and 7--was a lively, entertaining treat, highlighted by the thrilling presence of Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur reprising their Tony-winning roles.

Tony Award-winning actress Nikki M. James delighted students as their special surprise guest during the Broadway Artists Alliance 2011 Summer Workshop. HAIRSPRAY, starring original (and Tony-winning) Broadway leads Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur opens tonight, August 5, at the Hollywood Bowl in LA. The cast additionally features Corbin Bleu, Drew Carey, Diana DeGarmo, Mo Gaffney, Nick Jonas, Darlene Love, Tara Macri, and John Stamos.

The 3D thriller NURSE 3D has added Corbin Bleu to its roster of stars, according to Variety. The movie, which will star Paz De La Huerta and Katrina Bowden, will be directed by Douglas Aarniokoski and penned by David Loughery.

According to TVLine.com's Matt Mitovich, NBC's highly anticipated new musical series SMASH will premiere on February 6 at 10 PM, and BroadwayWorld couldn't be more excited for the big day!

Currently playing the role of Frank Abagnale in Broadway's Tony-nominated musical Catch Me If You Can, the Tony-nominated actor Tom Wopat is set to release his next solo album on August 9, 2011. The jazz album will be entitled 'Consider It Swung,' and features covers, original music, and even a song that was cut from Catch Me If You Can. It is produced by the LML Music Label with piano accompaniment by Tedd Firth, Peter Grant on the drums, David Finck on bass and Bob Malach on saxophone.
