GODSPELL's Nick Blaemire Joins DOGFIGHT at Second Stage

Second Stage Theatre will present the world premiere musical, DOGFIGHT. Previews begin June 27 in anticipation of a July 16 opening. Nick Blaemire (Godspell) joins the previously announced Annaleigh Ashford (Rent, Wicked, Legally Blonde), Becca Ayers (The Addams Family, Avenue Q), Steven Booth (Glory Days), Dierdre Friel (Leap of Faith), Adam Halpin (Glory Days), F. Michael Haynie (Carrie), Derek Klena (Carrie), Lindsay Mendez (Godspell, Second Stage's Everyday Rapture), James Moye (Million Dollar Quartet), and Josh Segarra (Lysistrata Jones).

Westport Country Playhouse Stages Joan Didion’s THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING, Now thru 6/30

Westport Country Playhouse stages the National Book Award-winning memoir, "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion, now through June 30, featuring noted actress Maureen Anderman as Didion. Directed by Nicholas Martin, the play is based on the author's actual experience rebuilding her life during the year after her spouse's death and her capacity to emerge strengthened from even the most shattering of life's trials.

THE NORMAL HEART Opens in D.C. Tonight, 6/8

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater produces the 2011 Tony Award-winning production of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart, directed by George C. Wolfe. Wolfe, who directed the show's sold-out Broadway engagement last season, mounts the professional D.C.-area premiere of this production, which features returning Broadway cast members Patrick Breen and Luke MacFarlane, among others. Presented by special arrangement with Daryl Roth, The Normal Heart runs tonight, June 8-July 29, 2012 in the Kreeger Theater.

Northwestern University's AMTP Presents THE VERONA PROJECT, 10/19-11/4

The American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University has selected award-winning writer and director Amanda Dehnert's THE VERONA PROJECT as its newest musical. Presented as the first show in the Theatre and Interpretation Center (TIC) at Northwestern University's 2012-13 Mainstage season, performances will take place from Oct. 19 through Nov. 4, at the Josephine Louis Theater, 20 Arts Circle Drive, on the University's Evanston campus.

Connecticut Critics Circle Names WATER BY THE SPOONFUL Best Play

The Connecticut Critics Circle has named Quiara Alegaria Hudes' WATER BY THE SPOONFUL as the best play of the 2011-2012 season. The CCC awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on June 24 at 2PM at the Mark Twain House & Museum, and is open to the public.

Terrence Mann Leads Connecticut Rep's MAN OF LA MANCHA, 6/7-16

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) launches its 2012 Nutmeg Summer Series with Man of La Mancha, running June 7 - 16 in the intimate Harriett S. Jorgensen Theatre (lower Jorgensen Auditorium) on the UConn campus, Storrs.

Public Theater Extends FEBRUARY HOUSE Through 6/17

The Public Theater just announced today that it will extend the critically acclaimed new musical FEBRUARY HOUSE by one additional week through Sunday, June 17. With music and lyrics by Gabriel Kahane and book by Seth Bockley, FEBRUARY HOUSE, currently playing in The Public's Martinson Theater, opened on Tuesday, May 22 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, June 10. Single tickets, beginning at $80, are on sale now.

Gurney, Bekah Brunstetter, Bruce Graham, Samuel D. Hunter, and Jeffrey Sweet - with performances to run June 21 through July 1 at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street).
