The National Theatre of Scotland production of Macbeth starring the Tony Award-winning Alan Cumming opened this weekend (June 15) at the Tramway Theatre in Glasgow. The show is set to transfer to the Lincoln Festival in New York next month. The British critics have been unanimously positive, giving four and five star reviews. Simon & Schuster Audio today announced the publication of MACBETH, a new audio program based on William Shakespeare's timeless work, interpreted and performed by Tony Award-winning and Emmy nominated actor Alan Cumming. The program will be published on July 3, 2012 to coincide with the limited engagement of Cumming's one-man performance of MACBETH at New York's Lincoln Center Festival. The audio program will be available in both CD and download formats.

A highlight of Lincoln Center Festival will be DruidMurphy, three plays (Conversations on a Homecoming, A Whistle in the Dark, and Famine) by Tom Murphy, staged by Garry Hynes for Druid Theatre Company from July 5-14 in the Gerald W. Lynch Theater. To complement these performances, Fordham University's Institute of Irish Studies, The Galway University Foundation, and the National University of Ireland, Galway will host an all-day symposium on July 12 from 1-6:30 PM at Keogh Studio Theater, Fordham University at Lincoln Center, 113 W. 60th Street at 9th Avenue.

Tonight, May 24 at 8pm, composer and vocalist Lisa Bielawa will present a concert with friends from the chorus of Einstein on the Beach at The Stone (Avenue C and 2nd Street, NYC), as part of a series of performances at the East Village venue curated by Gyan Riley. Lisa Bielawa is the choirmaster of Philip Glass and Robert Wilson's monumental opera, currently touring worldwide. The singers are preparing for their appearance at The Stone, which features vocal music by Bielawa, while on the road together.

Sinéad O'Connor and Other Artists Added to Curtis Mayfield Tribute Concert at Lincoln Center Festival 2012

The lineup for the Lincoln Center Festival tribute to the late soul music icon Curtis Mayfield has been expanded with the addition of artists Sinéad O'Connor, Bilal, Meshell Ndegeocello, William Bell, Ryan Montbleau and Inyang Bassey. This one-time-only event takes place on July 20 at 8pm in Avery Fisher Hall. Previously announced performers include The Impressions, Mavis Staples, Aloe Blacc, Kyp Malone and Tune Adebimpe, Dr. Lonnie Smith and a 14-piece house band led by music director Binky Griptite of the Dap-Kings.

Tickets go on sale today for Lincoln Center's 24th season of Midsummer Night Swing taking place Tuesdays through Saturdays, June 26-July 14. Swing's 15 dazzling nights of dancing, and one free daytime lesson for children, take place at the bandshell and elevated dance floor in Damrosch Park, on West 62nd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. Midsummer Night Swing offers an array of dance music styles including salsa, swing, tango, rock 'n' roll, and bhangra. Because of the national holiday there will be no Swing on July 4th, so a special Monday night will be added on July 2nd.
