Park Avenue Armory Announces First Full Season of Artistic Programming

Park Avenue Armory announced its first full season of cultural programming, comprising productions of visual art, dance, theater and music that are conceived and performed 'outside the box' of conventional theaters and museums. Dedicated to presenting works that cannot be realized in traditional institutions, Park Avenue Armory's season will include monumental, immersive installations by visual artists Peter Greenaway and Ryoji Ikeda; Tune-In, a contemporary music festival featuring new music ensembles curated by and including eighth blackbird, the New York premier of Inuksuit by John Luther Adams and a new site-specific commission by Sympho; a six-week residency by the Royal Shakespeare Company in a full-scale Shakespearean theater built inside the Drill Hall; and free-form performances by Shen Wei Dance Arts, Streb, and the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. With its soaring 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall and array of dramatic period rooms, the Armory's unique spaces enable artists to create-and the public to experience- unconventional work in all genres that could not be realized elsewhere in New York City.

The Gerald W. Lynch Theater Presents A Reading of THE MASTER FORGER, 9/27

The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College presents a reading of The Master Forger, by David Wiener as part of First Throws, the theater's unique playwriting salon that presents new plays exploring issues of justice from an artistic perspective, on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 7pm at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College, 899 Tenth Avenue, NYC. Admission is FREE and no tickets are required.

Gotham Chamber Opera & Tectonic Theater Project Present EL GATO CON BOTAS

Following on the heels of last year's sensational Il mondo della luna at the Hayden Planetarium, Gotham Chamber Opera announces that The New 42nd Street presents, at The New Victory Theater, a Gotham Chamber Opera and Tectonic Theater Project production in association with Blind Summit Theatre, Xavier Montsalvatge's El gato con botas (Puss in Boots), a stunning new production of the classic children's tale directed by Moisés Kaufman and conducted by Neal Goren, which will be presented in October 2010.

'Border Towns' Plays at HERE, 9/18

Kicking off its 2010-11 season, HERE proudly presents Border Towns from Nick Brooke/The Cabinet, playing September 10-18. With music and sound as the driving force, this productionjourneys through the psychological landscape of the U.S., creating a theatrical reflection onrecording, location and culture. Border Towns is created and directed by HERE Resident ArtistNick Brooke, with co-direction by Jenny Rohn. Official Opening Night is set for Sunday,September 12 at 9:00 PM at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue).
