Humanitas, which has for years given budding television writers a leg up through its New Voices mentorship initiative, will now add support for locally based playwrights through PLAY LA, a new program launched in collaboration with Center Theatre Group (CTG). The Geffen Playhouse announces the cast for its West Coast premiere production of Conor McPherson's The Night Alive, helmed by Geffen Playhouse Artistic Director Randall Arney. This production will feature Paul Vincent O'Connor (August: Osage County at the National Theatre, London), Fiona O'Shaughnessy (Utopia), Dan Donohue (The Lion King on Broadway), Denis Arndt (Basic Instinct), and Peter O'Meara (Band of Brothers).

The Civilians' "Pretty Filthy," A New Musical About The Other Hollywood," with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, book by Bess Wohl and directed by Steve Cosson, is set to open January 31 and play through March 1, 2015, at the Abrons Arts Center in New York City.

It was announced today that a newly revised draft of Brandon Baruch's play NO HOMO will receive an Industry Reading at the Kirk Douglas Theatre on December 8th at 8pm. The reading will be directed by Jessica Hanna and produced by Max Oken.
