The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced today that the 2009 Summer Gala will honor entertainment executive and longtime board member Susan Lyne and acclaimed director Mike Nichols for their outstanding commitment to the institution. The Gala will take place on Thursday, June 25 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park on the opening night of TWELFTH NIGHT, the first production of the 2009 Shakespeare in the Park summer season.

It was announced today that Marin Ireland, Steven Pasquale, Piper Perabo and Thomas Sadoski will comprise the four-person cast of this season's production of Neil LaBute's new play, reasons to be pretty, under the direction of Terry Kinney. Perabo and Sadoski appeared in this summer's smash Off Broadway world premiere for MCC Theater, with Ireland and Pasquale slated to join the cast for the Broadway production. Young Audiences New York (YANY) Children's Arts Award Honorees made a special visit to P.S. 46 in Upper Manhattan on January 7 to witness a dazzling dance performance by 7- and 8-year-old art students. YANY 2009 honorees Julianna Margulies, Emmy-Award winner; and Rino Scanzoni, Chief Investment Officer, GroupM North America & Chairman - Mediaedge:cia North America, spent the morning observing second grade students during the school's YANY 'Folk Dance Residency.' The honorees met with school administrators and received an in-depth look at the positive impact YANY arts programming has on children in the 180 New York City public schools the organization serves.
