MURDER BALLAD to Begin Previews Off-Broadway Tomorrow, 10/31

The Off-Broadway production of MURDER BALLAD will start previews tomorrow, October 31, at 7:30 PM at The Studio at Stage II at New York City Center (131 West 55th Street). MURDER BALLAD will play a limited five-week engagement, opening Thursday, November 15.

MTC's MURDER BALLAD, Featuring Karen Olivo, Will Swenson and More, Extends Through 12/2

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that due to overwhelming demand, MURDER BALLAD, the new musical that is the inaugural production of MTC's The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street) will extend by one week through Sunday, December 2.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director), Barry Grove (Executive Producer), and Mandy Greenfield (Artistic Producer) have just announced full casting for the upcoming world premiere of MURDER BALLAD, the new musical by Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash, directed by Trip Cullman. MURDER BALLAD is the inaugural production of MTC's The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street). MURDER BALLAD will play a limited four-week engagement with previews beginning Tuesday, October 30 and opening Thursday, November 15.

Jessica Hecht, Judith Light Set to Lead ASSEMBLED PARTIES at MTC; Opens 4/17

Manhattan Theatre Club has just announced Tony Award nominee Jessica Hecht (Harvey, A View From The Bridge, Brighton Beach Memoirs) and Tony and Emmy Award winner Judith Light (Other Desert Cities, Lombardi, "Ugly Betty") will star on Broadway in the world premiere of THE ASSEMBLED PARTIES, a new play by Tony Award winner Richard Greenberg (Take Me Out, The American Plan, Three Days of Rain) directed by MTC's award-winning Artistic Director Lynne Meadow (Wit, Collected Stories, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife).

Due to popular demand Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater is adding an additional workshop performance tonight, July 29 at 7:30pm of the new indie rock musical Murder Ballad by Julia Jordan & Juliana Nash, directed by Trip Cullman. The cast features Tony nominees Daniel Breaker (Passing Strange; Shrek: The Musical) and Will Swenson (Hair; Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as well as Dee Roscioli (Wicked) and Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot; Passing Strange).

The indie rock musical Murder Ballad is written by award-winning playwright Julia Jordan (Tatjana in Color; Sarah, Plain and Tall) and Juliana Nash (frontwoman for the indie rock band Talking to Animals), directed by Trip Cullman (Lonely, I'm Not; Assistance; A Small Fire). Vassar & New York Stage and Film announced today that Tony nominees Daniel Breaker (Passing Strange; Shrek: The Musical) and Will Swenson (Hair; Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as well as Dee Roscioli (Wicked) and Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot; Passing Strange) will join the 28th Powerhouse Theater season in a workshop of the indie rock musical Murder Ballad by award-winning playwright Julia Jordan (Tatjana in Color; Sarah, Plain and Tall) & Juliana Nash (frontwoman for the indie rock band Talking to Animals), directed by Trip Cullman (Lonely, I'm Not; Assistance; A Small Fire).

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director), Barry Grove (Executive Producer), and Mandy Greenfield (Artistic Producer) announced that Manhattan Theatre Club will launch The Studio at Stage II where bold, new work meets bold, new audiences at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street). The Studio at Stage II will launch this fall with the world premiere production of MURDER BALLAD, a new musical by Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash, directed by Trip Cullman, and the American premiere of MTC's commission CHOIR BOY, a play with music by Tarell Alvin McCraney.

Following the sold out performances and overflow crowds at its first two Cino Nights presentations (of Gary Sunshine's BEST SEX EVER and Mando Alvarado's (O)N THE 5:31), Rising Phoenix Rep continued the series November 7th with Courtney Baron's HERE I LIE which was performed by Denis Butkus and Samantha Soule to a sold out house. In this two-character play, 'Maris and Joseph have made their beds and now have to lie in them. Two people connected by illness, loneliness, and the need to be understood, they navigate the murky waters of subjective truth. If you believe it, can you make it true?' The production was directed by Rising Phoenix Rep artistic director Daniel Talbott.
