Staged! to Present PARADE by Jason Robert Brown, 9/20-10/12

Staged! and Tony Award-winning Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown go way back. For the past three years the company has been delighting musical theatre audiences with top-notch production of the composer's work and has the awards and accolades to show for it. This time, Staged! presents JRB's dark and ambitious musical Parade, September 20 through October 12. A dark and compelling look at American justice and racism, Parade won two Tony Awards for its sweeping score and powerful message.

ANNAPURNA Ends Off-Broadway Run, 6/1

The New Group opened the New York premiere of Annapurna by Sharr White, directed by Bart DeLorenzo and featuring Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, on April 21. The limited Off-Broadway engagement will officially end its run on June 1.

The New Group presents the New York premiere of Annapurna by Sharr White, directed by Bart DeLorenzo and featuring Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, in a limited Off-Broadway engagement April 13 - June 1. Official Opening Night is set for Monday, April 21 at 7:00pm, at The New Group @ Theatre Row (The Acorn Theatre, 410 West 42nd Street).

Ed Harris, Lea DeLaria, John Tartaglia and More Set for The New Group's 2014 Gala Honoring Beth Henley and Geoff Rich, 3/10

Off-Broadway's The New Group honors Beth Henley, playwright, author of Crimes of the Heart and The Jacksonian, and Geoff Rich, Executive Director of The New Group 2002-2013, with The 2014 Michael Mendelson Award at the company's Annual Gala, 'Bright Lights Off-Broadway.' The Gala, set to take place Monday, March 10 beginning at 6:00pm at Tribeca Rooftop (2 Desbrosses Street), features appearances by Ed Harris, Holly Hunter, Carol Kane, Amy Madigan, Bill Pullman and Jonathan Marc Sherman and performances by Stephen Bogardus, Lea DeLaria and John Tartaglia, along with cocktails, dinner, and silent and live auctions filled with an array of exciting items and one-of-a-kind experiences.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Friend David Bar Katz Uses Libel Suit Settlement to Create Foundation, Award in His Honor

When Phillip Seymour Hoffman's friend, playwright David Bar Katz, saw a story by The National Enquirer claiming he and Hoffman had been 'lovers who had freebased cocaine the night before his death, and said Mr. Katz claimed to have seen him using heroin many times', he immediately filed a libel suit. After two days, The Enquirer had withdrawn the article and apologized. But Katz's settlement included much more.

During their brief time together, they imagine what their lives would be like if they allowed this momentary encounter to evolve to the next level. Their decisions may determine their entire future and whether this will turn out to be a date from hell or a date of a lifetime.

NJ Rep to Premiere New Musical DATE OF A LIFETIME, 3/6-4/6

New Jersey Repertory Company will present the new musical 'Date of a Lifetime' with book and lyrics by Carl Kissin and music by Robert Baumgartner, Jr., produced in association with Hat on a Hat, LLC, on March 6 through April 6, 2014 at 179 Broadway in Long Branch. Marlo Hunter is the Director/Choreographer and Daniel Rein is the Musical Director.

Adam Bernstein Named The New Group's Executive Director

Scott Elliott, Founding Artistic Director of The New Group and Serge Nivelle, Chairman of its Board of Directors, have announced that Adam Bernstein has been named Executive Director of the company.

New Group's INTIMACY Begins Performances Off-Broadway Tonight

The New Group continues its 2013-2014 season with the world premiere of Intimacy, a new play by Thomas Bradshaw. Directed by Scott Elliott, Intimacy features David Anzuelo, Austin Cauldwell, Ella Dershowitz, Laura Esterman, Daniel Gerroll, Dea Julien and Keith Randolph Smith. A limited Off-Broadway engagement plays January 14 - March 8 at The New Group @ Theatre Row (The Acorn Theatre / 410 West 42nd Street), with Official Opening Night set for Wednesday, January 29 at 7:00pm.

Padua Productions' VILLON to Star Kevin Weisman, 2/15-3/23

Murder, mayhem and poetry. Award-winning, visionary playwright Murray Mednick brings his unique sensibility to the hair-raising, sometimes violent, and often hilarious exploits of medieval poet Francois Villon in a world premiere production directed by the playwright. Villon opens on Feb. 15, presented by Padua Productions in a guest production at the Odyssey Theatre.

Marlo Thomas to Lead World Premiere of Joe DiPietro's CLEVER LITTLE LIES at George Street Playhouse; Performances to Begin 11/19

George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced the casting of MARLO THOMAS, award-winning actress of stage and screen, in the world premiere production of Clever Little Lies, by Tony Award-winner JOE DiPIETRO (rescheduled from the 2012-13 season). Mr. Saint will helm the production, slated to take the stage in New Brunswick, November 19 - December 22. The remainder of the cast will be announced at a later date.

Adam Kantor and Betsy Wolfe to Reprise Roles in THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Huntington, 11/23-24

The Huntington Theatre Company presents a concert version of Jason Robert Brown's powerful contemporary musical The Last Five Years for three performances only November 23 and 24. Adam Kantor (Rent, Avenue Q) and Betsy Wolfe (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Everyday Rapture) play the two twenty-something New Yorkers who dive head-first into marriage, fueled by the optimism of finding 'the one.' On Sunday, May 19, Jules Feiffer's Little Murders arrives at The New Group @ Theatre Row in a one-night-only benefit reading. Directed by Cynthia Nixon, this benefit reading features Eric Bogosian, Kevin Cahoon, John Doman, America Ferrera, Charles Grodin, Rory O'Malley, Caroline Rhea and Michael Stuhlbarg.
