City Theatre Announces THE REVOLUTIONSTS By Lauren Gunderson

City Theatre launches its new season with an all female cast and creative team for the Pittsburgh premiere of America's most produced playwright from 2017, Lauren Gunderson, and her hysterical and historical comedy, The Revolutionists. While set during France's Reign of Terror (1793-94), it is a timely treatise for the United States today as it celebrates four badass women out to change the world. 

Performances Have Begun for SCHOOL GIRLS at Douglas

Performances have begun for the hit MCC Theater production of Jocelyn Bioh's "School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play" directed by Rebecca Taichman. Currently in previews, the production will open September 8 at 8 p.m. and continues through September 30, 2018, at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre.

The Studio Theatre Mounts STOP KISS

In November, The Studio Theatre Tierra del Sol (806 San Marino Drive, The Villages, FL) will open the second production of its third season with the play Stop Kiss, by American Playwright Diana Son. An Outer Critics Circle Award and John Gassner Award nominee, this play set in 1998, examines the moving power of love against brutality.

Strawdog Theatre Presents THE REVOLUTIONISTS

Strawdog Theatre Company is pleased to continue its 31st season with THE REVOLUTIONISTS, Lauren M. Gunderson's brutal comedic quartet about four very real women who lived boldly during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror, directed by Denise Yvette Serna.

Horton Foote Prize Awarded to Lauren Yee and Jaclyn Backhaus

Mari Marchbanks announced today the 2018 recipients of the biennial Horton Foote Prize, named in honor of the late playwright, which recognizes excellence in American theater. The 2018 Prize for Outstanding New American Play, presented to a work produced in the 2016-17 or 2017-18 seasons, is awarded to Cambodian Rock Band by Lauren Yee. The 2018 Prize for Promising New American Play, presented to a previously unproduced work, is awarded to India Pale Ale by Jaclyn Backhaus.

Madeline George's Pulitzer Nominated Play Arrives in Redwood City this September

In The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, playwright Madeline George weaves together the tale of three historical Watsons in this time-jumping tribute to genius. There's Watson, the trusty sidekick to Sherlock Holmes, Watson, the loyal engineer who helped Alexander Graham Bell build the telephone, and Watson, the IBM supercomputer created to beat the Jeopardy! All-Stars in 2011. Woven into a tale with Watson, a present day geek looking for love, the result is a story that examines the technological advancements that both bring people together and tear them apart. A 2014 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Bay Area Premiere Lauren Gunderson's THE REVOLUTIONISTS Opens Town Hall Theatre Season

Town Hall Theatre 'Lost & Found' Season 2018/19 opens with  the Bay Area Premiere of THE REVOLUTIONISTS, a bold and irreverent new  comedy by Lauren Gunderson.  THE REVOLUTIONISTS will have 12 performances, including two previews, September 27 through October 20, 2018, at Town Hall Theatre Company, 3535 School Street, in Lafayette, CA.  Tickets are $18 - $30, and are available through the Box Office at (925) 283-1557 or online at www.TownHallTheatre.com. 

Photo Flash: First Day of School! In Rehearsal with SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY

Rehearsals began in New York City for the upcoming return engagement of Jocelyn Bioh's acclaimed award-winning comedy "School Girls; or, The African Mean Girls Play", directed by Rebecca Taichman, which will be presented by MCC Theater at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, 121 Christopher Street , October 16th through October 25th. Official opening night is set for October 22nd.

Custom Made Theatre Edward Albee's THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA Begins 9/20

Winner of the 2002 Tony Award for Best Play, The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? is about a profoundly unsettling subject: the irrational, confounding, and convention-thwarting nature of love. Martin-a hugely successful architect who has just turned fifty-leads an ostensibly ideal life with his loving wife and gay teenage son. But when he confides to his best friend that he is also in love with Sylvia, he sets in motion events that will destroy his family and leave his life in tatters. Albee's boundary-pushing play is puzzling, powerful, bawdy, and disturbing.

Full Casting Announced For I AND YOU and EVERY DAY I MAKE GREATNESS HAPPEN at Hampstead Theatre

Zach Wyatt will star as Anthony alongside previously announced Maisie Williams as Caroline in the UK premiere of Lauren Gunderson's I and You, which will be directed by Artistic Director Edward Hall on the Main Stage. Richard Molloy's Every Day I Make Greatness Happen, winner of the Nick Darke Award in 2017, will receive its world premiere Downstairs in September, and will star Sofia Barclay, Moe Bar-El, Jon Foster, Susan Stanley and Josh Zare.

Casting Announced For MAKE BELIEVE at Hartford Stage

Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts today announced the cast and creative team for Make Believe, written by Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award-winning playwright Bess Wohl. The world premiere play will perform Thursday, September 6, through Sunday, September 30, to open the Tony Award-winning regional theatre's 55th season. Jackson Gay will direct.

SCHOOL GIRLS: OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY Will Receive Encore Run Off Broadway This Fall

MCC THEATER just today announced the full cast and creative team for the return of the critically acclaimed, sold out, extended, award-winning play School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play, written by 2017-18 Tow Playwright-in-Residence Jocelyn Bioh, and directed by Tony® Winner Rebecca Taichman. The encore production will be performed at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street) from October 16th through November 25th. Opening night is set for October 22nd. Prior to the return, Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles will present the MCC production at the CTG Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City from September 2nd through September 30th.

Dialogue Starters Announced for Upcoming Arena Civil Dialogues

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater will continue to host Arena Civil Dialogues to engage the D.C.-area community. Scholar, professor and peacebuilder Amitai Etzioni will moderate a series of discussions focusing on topics and questions in today's headlines, the next topic will focus on the increased presence of robots and technology use. The next Arena Civil Dialogue will be held in the Molly Smith Study at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater from 5:30-7 p.m. on August 12, 2018. 

Ensemble Studio Theatre Announces 50th Anniversary Season, Beginning With William Jackson Harper's TRAVISVILLE

ENSEMBLE STUDIO THEATRE (EST) (William Carden, Artistic Director, Sarah McLellan, Executive Director) is proud to announce its 50th Anniversary season. The season will commence in October 2018 with the world premiere of TRAVISVILLE a new play by William Jackson Harper ("The Good Place") and directed by Steve H. Broadnax III (The Hip-Hop Project). This marks the playwriting debut of Harper, who has been developing the piece with EST over the past 8 years.
