Classical music had Mozart and Bach. Modern technology had Steve Jobs. 20th century music had The Beatles. Music has the power to capture the essence of, and speak to the citizens of each generation. Thus the little surprise that The Beatles still live on today with a fan base as large as its original audience, albeit an audience a bit less likely faint due to Beatlemania. The Beatles' story and music represent the history and spirit of the 1960s, especially the flower power movements.
RAIN, a Beatles tribute band, does an equally masterful a job of telling history through music in its "direct from Broadway" tour, playing at the Sacramento Community Center Theater through January 1. Playing some of The Beatles' best-known songs, RAIN recreates moments from the band's career: The Ed Sullivan Show, the Shea Stadium concert, the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band record, the Flower Power period and the Abbey Road album. Band members change looks and costumes accordingly, including a very memorable selection of music where the players jam it out in their neon Sgt. Pepper costume lit by black lights while fog fills the stage.

To celebrate the success of this nearly ubiquitous device, and since so many of us equate summer fun with listening to some great tunes, it seemed like the perfect time to bring back BroadwayWorld.com's popular summer feature in the theatre world with the simple question of 'What's on your iPod?' Looking through the responses, what's certain is that the taste of those on and around the Great White Way is as varied (if not more so!) than the shows on Broadway.

RAIN - A Tribute To The Beatles, the internationally-acclaimed Beatles concert, returns by popular demand to Hollywood's historic Pantages Theatre, where they enjoyed astounding success during their special one week engagement in 2009. RAIN will play the Pantages for the final time on April 17, 2011
For those of us who lived through the 60s and saw firsthand the arrival of the Beatles in the US and their premiere on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, we know the impact that they had on pop culture and on female fans, who screamed, yelled and literally passed out while watching them. Like Elvis, they were a phenomenon and to think of how they revolutionized music over the course of the next twenty+ years! Paul, George (deceased), John (deceased) and Ringo were IT for a long time, and now the band Rain is replicating their look and musical style to the letter on Broadway and for one week only at the Pantages. Steve Landes, Joey Curatolo, Joe Bithorn, Ralph Castelli and Mark Beyer are Rain and they are as big a smash as those Liverpool youngsters who preceded them. These very same boys who played the show at the Pantages in 2009 are back once more, but will return to New York next week.
Prior to the Broadway production of RAIN - A Tribute To The Beatles which is now playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York City, the 2009 Los Angeles premiere engagement at the Pantages Theatre experienced a critical and audience reception like none other; virtually selling out the entire engagement and playing to packed houses nightly.
