At a press conference held today at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 176 nominations from 218 eligible productions that opened between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009 for the 30th annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards which honour excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.

Michael Praed will star as 'Captain Von Trapp' alongside Connie Fisher as 'Maria' in the National UK tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and The Really Useful Group's smash hit production of the legendary Rodgers and Hammerstein musical 'THE SOUND OF MUSIC' opening at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on 26 July 2009, where it will play until 29 August 2009 (Box Office: 08700 40 2000). 'THE SOUND OF MUSIC' has announced it will be closing on February 21, 2009. The Andrew Lloyd Webber production will be on national tour with Connie Fisher playing the role of Maria. She was the original casting for this role.

The Chicago engagement of the national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has been canceled. The show was originally scheduled to play The Chicago Theatre Feb. 11-15. The tour's website announces that the engagement was canceled 'due to slower than expected local ticket sales.' Any tickets that were ordered through Ticketmaster (by phone or on-line) will be credited to the purchaser's credit card account. Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster outlets or through The Chicago Theatre's box office must be returned to the original point of purchase. LOST star Daniel Dae Kim will departs the island of Hawaii for the spotlight of the London stage this coming summer to star in a new production of musical The King and I. The Korean-born Kim was a guest on 'The View' this morning and spoke about his taking on the iconic role of the 'King of Siam' for the UK mounting. He explained that it would be produced in the UK, 'It's actually going to be in London at the Royal Albert Hall. We start rehearsals start in May'.

Not seen in New York City since the 9-time Tony Award nominated Broadway production, Phoenix Theatre Ensemble presents Indiscretions, Jeremy Sams? translation of Jean Cocteau?s Les Parents Terribles. Directed by Drama Desk nominee Jonathan Silverstein (The Dining Room), Indiscretions opens on February 21st and will run through March 14th.

13, a new musical with music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown will play its final performance on Sunday, January 4, 2009 after 22 preview and 105 regular performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 W. 45th Street). The first Broadway show to star an all teenage cast and band began previews on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 and opened on Sunday, October 5, 2008.
