NBC has issued its first scripted series pickup for the 2010-11 season with the order of the drama 'Undercovers' from acclaimed writer/producer/director J.J. Abrams ('Star Trek,' 'Fringe,' 'Lost,' 'Alias') and executive producer/writer Josh Reims ('Brothers and Sisters'), it was announced today by Angela Bromstad, President, Primetime Entertainment, NBC and Universal Media Studios.

According to a report in the Hollywood Reporter, J.J. Abrams has found a leading lady for his new television project, 'Undercovers'. British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw will star opposite Boris Kodjoe in the upcoming pilot for NBC, which will be directed by Abrams. The plot of 'Undercovers' revolves 'around a domesticated husband (Kodjoe) and wife (Mbatha-Raw) who are re-activated as CIA agents after years of retirement.'

This morning, the Producers Guild announced its nominees for the 21st annual PGA Awards, including the 10 nominees up for the prestigious Producers Guild Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year award. The award, now in its 21st year, honors producers of the standout film of the season. Among the nominees are the producers of An Education starring Carey Mulligan, Lee Daniels and colleagues for Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, and Peter Del Vecho for The Princess and the Frig starring Broadway's Anika Noni Rose and Jennifer Cody.
