The Queens Museum has announced the opening weekend events lineup to coincide with the opening of the Museum's expansion and inaugural exhibitions – Pedro Reyes: The People's United Nations (pUN), Peter Schumann: The Shatterer, New York City Building Time Lapse, 2009 – 2013: Photographs by Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao, Queens International 2013, and Citizens of the World: Cuba in Queens. A broad variety of exhibitions and programming highlight the expanded gallery space and showcase the Museum's dedication to presenting contemporary art that engages the uniquely diverse communities it serves, reflecting the richness and breadth of the cultural environment. Also timed with the inauguration of the new building, the museum is undergoing a rebranding initiative with a new visual identity, a renaming of the institution from Queens Museum of Art to the Queens Museum, and is soon launching a redesigned website.

Howard Hawks, the quintessential Hollywood director known for his mastery of many genres, will be the subject of a complete retrospective at Museum of the Moving Image from today, September 7 through November 10, 2013. The Museum will present 39 features. All of the films will be shown in 35mm-many in stunning restorations-except for Red Line 7000, which will be shown in 16mm.

A year following the death of beloved Fulton Theatre Trustee EmeritusEllen Arnold Groff, Fulton Theatre announces the creation of a new performance series in her honor. The Ellen Groff Studio Series will be an annual collection of performances taking place in the theatre's 4th floor studio theatre. The focus of the series will be emerging writers, new work, and challenging topics that were central to Mrs. Groff's love of the theatre art form. Marc Robin, the Fulton's Artistic Director commented, 'Ellen and I spent countless hours talking about what motivates us as artists. She loved the intellectual challenge of new work, under-represented ideas, and theatre that got your blood pumping. And she always wanted to see the 4th floor space developed in a way that built a regular audience that wanted to share her artistic tastes.'
