Legendary comedian Joan Rivers will play the final show at the popular performance venue The Cutting Room on January 13, after which the club will close its doors. Proceeds from her shows benefit God's Love We Deliver and Guide Dogs for the Blind. The Cutting Room is located at 19 West 24th Street in Chelsea, accessible from the F & V trains at 23rd Street.

Planet Connections Theater Festivity will premiere in June 2009 as a new festival designed to promote awareness in the theatrical community about social and cultural issues. Formed by two Spotlight On Festival alums, Glory Bowen and Frank Calo, the festival will explore using theater as a tool for social change while connecting artists with new audiences in fun theatrical environment. The goals of the festival are to inspire people to get involved and fight for world causes.

It has been confirmed that Joan Rivers has cancelled the return season of her one-woman show Joan Rivers: A Work in Progress in Leicester Square Theatre. The show, which ran at the theater from August 29th through September 18th 2008 was scheduled to return on December 2nd where it would run through January 29th, 2009.
