Magic Theatre Presents Virgin Play Reading Series, 3/7

The Friend Center for the Arts at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) and the Magic Theatre present The Virgin Play Reading Series on four Mondays in March. These readings of scripts-in-progress by the playwrights themselves, offer audiences the chance to hear the plays before they arrive on the stage and see the new play development process up close. After each reading, the playwright and director will have a conversation with the audience members.

TCG Kicks Off 50th Anniversary Celebration At National Conference, 6/16-6/18

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, will kick off its 50th Anniversary at its National Conference in Los Angeles, June 16-18, 2011. The TCG National Conference offers the largest forum for the national theatre community to assemble and engage in artistic and intellectual exchange. Not-for-profit professional theatres in the U.S. employ 130,000 people annually, have more than 30 million attendees and contribute nearly $2 billion directly to the U.S. economy.

East West Players Offers Teen Acting Class, 2/5-4/9

East West Players, the nation's premier Asian American theatre, opens it doors once again to young, emerging artists. The Teen Acting Class offers students an acting theatre adventure by working with a professional who is passionate about teaching acting in a creative, nurturing, and safe environment. Led by Jose Urbina, this 10-week course for ages 10-16 will focus on the fundamentals of acting. Students will develop acting skills through improvisation and theatre games which will improve and promote communication and creativity as well as team work and self-esteem.

East West Players Premieres WRINKLES, 2/16-3/13

East West Players (EWP), the nation's premier Asian American theatre, continues its 45th Anniversary season, themed Shake It Up, with the world premiere comedy WRINKLES by Paul Kikuchi, directed by Jeff Liu, presented in association with Keiro Senior HealthCare. The cast of the production includes Sab Shimono, Amy Hill, Elizabeth Ho, Ki Hong Lee, Scott Keiji Takeda, and Lisa Dring. Generous support for this production is provided by the S. Mark Taper Foundation Endowment for East West Players.
