Levy, who has been a trustee of the Art Institute since 2009, will take over as Chair when Pritzker's term ends in November.

Considered by many to be the city's social event of the season, the Gala will provide guests with a private preview of the Magritte exhibition that will open to the public on June 24 and run through October 13, 2014.

In June of 2013, the Art Institute of Chicago received a monumental gift from Massachusetts collector Dorothy Braude Edinburg: nearly 1,000 works, including approximately 800 prints and drawings spanning 500 years. Now the Art Institute will be exhibiting 96 of these drawings in The Thrill of the Chase: Drawings for the Harry B. and Bessie K. Braude Collection, on view in the museum's Jean and Steven Goldman Prints and Drawing Galleries in the Richard and Mary Gray Wing from March 15 through June 15.

In this capacity, Sowden will assume responsibility for overseeing strategic financial planning and management for the assets and investments of the Art Institute of Chicago, which encompasses both the museum and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, including more than $900 million of pension and endowment funds. Sowden comes to the Art Institute after 24 years at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California, most recently as the vice president for financial affairs.

The Art Institute of Chicago is pleased to announce the appointments of new conservators in two departments at the museum: Antoinette Owen as senior conservator of prints and drawings, and Sylvie Pénichon as conservator of photographs. Owen and Pénichon join the staff of more than 25 conservators and conservation scientists in multiple conservation centers and laboratories at the museum, including paintings, objects, photographs, prints and drawings, textiles, and research science.
This year's Snap Gala, benefiting the Photography Gala Fund—the largest single source of acquisitions support for photography at the Art Institute—was a record-breaking success. On Saturday, October 19, guests were awed by the elegant, glowing centerpieces featuring vintage slides, as well as a curtain of slides hanging from the second floor balcony made by INDO (http://theindoprojects.com/). Attendees posed in sets of classic photographs from the Art Institute's acclaimed permanent collection during cocktail hour, as well as photo booths during dessert.
