A strictly limited Australian Premiere Season of arguably the most infamous Broadway musical of all-time, CARRIE THE MUSICAL, will play the Seymour Centre from tonight, November 13 - 30 as the final production in their 2013 Reginald season of independent works.

Hoboken Children's Theater Company, composed of talented performers high school through adult, will present CARRIE THE MUSICAL, starring Lisa Capps as Carrie's mother Margaret. Ms. Capps holds the distinction of being the only actress in history to have portrayed all three female principal roles-Cosette, Eponine and Fantine-in the Broadway show Les Miserables. Her numerous other credits include Miss Saigon and Tommy.

Opera House Players, Inc. presents the rockin' musical FOOTLOOSE at the Broad Brook Opera House, 107 Main Street, Broad Brook, CT 06016 on November 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, December 1 (Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm). The musical adaptation of FOOTLOOSE is based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford. Today in 1998, Footloose opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where it ran for 709 performances. Footloose is a 1998 musical based on the 1984 film of the same name. The music is by Tom Snow (among others), the lyrics by Dean Pitchford (with additional lyrics by Kenny Loggins), and the book by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. It starred Jeremy Kushnier as Ren McCormack, Stephen Lee Anderson as Reverend Shaw Moore, Jennifer Laura Thompson as Ariel Moore, Tom Plotkin as Willard Hewitt, and Dee Hoty as Vi Moore.

The revised version of the cult musical 'Carrie', which was seen Off-Broadway in 2012, will receive its a new production at the The Generic Theater in downtown Norfolk, VA this fall.

From the annals of American horror comes 'Carrie, the Musical,' to be presented by Pierrot Production at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre this Halloween season. Eight performances will be presented, including two midnight shows. Performances are tonight, Oct. 18 and 25 at 8 p.m., Saturdays, Oct. 19 and 26 at 8 p.m. and midnight; and Sundays, Oct. 20 and 27 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance tonight, Oct. 18.

Any true Broadway Geek knows of the infamous flop that is "Carrie: The Musical". Having only run for 16 previews and 5 actual performances back in 1988, some believed it to be one of the worst shows around while others still proclaimed its merits and longed for its return. So when the show was retooled by authors Michael Gore, Dean Pitchford and Lawrence D. Cohen and an Off-Broadway run was announced for 2012, the news was met with excitement and skepticism. The modest run was enough to remove some of the stigma of the show and made the show ripe for regional productions to put their stamp on it. And this leads us to 2013 as powerhouse company Balagan Theatre mounts their production with none other than Tony Award Winner Alice Ripley in the role of Carrie's Mother, Margaret White. And while the show itself is now about half good, the Balagan Production manages enough stellar moments to make the show into something special but they still have a ways to go to achieve greatness.
