Stars of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the rising young dancers of Ailey II, and gifted students from The Ailey School will come together for a spectacular one-night performance on Tuesday, May 3rd at 7pm on the world famous Apollo stage, where stars are born and legends are made.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center will present its annual Monte Cristo Award to legendary Broadway and screen actor James Earl Jones, in recognition of his monumental achievements and contributions to the American and international theater community. The award will be presented to Mr. Jones at a gala dinner held in his honor at Bridgewaters - South Street Seaport in New York City on Monday, May 9th at 6:30pm.

A strikingly original black comedy by Academy Award-winning, Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated playwright Martin McDonagh, 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' is set in 1993 on a rocky island in County Galway.

Two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington, alongside co-star Viola Davis, a Tony Award winner and Academy Award nominee herself, opened the first Broadway revival of FENCES last night at the Cort Theatre. The 1987 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by August Wilson was directed by Kenny Leon. The strictly limited 13-week engagement began previews on April 14. Original 'Dreamgirls' Loretta Devine, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jennifer Holliday were amongst the guests in attendance at the opening of the 'Dreamgirls' production at the Ahmanson Theater on March 2. The show will play thru April 4.

The three legends recorded an album in 2006 for Nonesuch records under their own name, but rarely play together live. Brought back by popular demand, the group will reunite at the Blue Note from February 23 - 28.

The Center Theatre Group and Deaf West Theatre opened Pippin at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles January 25. Composer Stephen Schwartz and original cast members Ben Vereen and John Rubenstein joined in on the celebration.

The American Theatre Wing will honor Carol Channing, James Earl Jones and Tommy Tune at its Annual Spring Gala on Monday, June 4, 2007.

On May 1, Acorn Media will release home video debut of Lerner and Loewe's Camelot, the Tony-nominated revival, mounted for Broadway in the early 1980s at New York's historic Winter Garden Theatre and filmed for television by HBO. It will also release 'The Best of the Tony Awards: The Plays' the same day

The Color Purple, began previews at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway at 53rd St.) on November 1st and opened on Thursday, December 1, 2005. BroadwayWorld was there to capture all the night'e excitement!
