Broadway Across America-Seattle Hosts Its One Day Sale

Broadway Across America-Seattle hosts its second annual 'One Day Sale' on Broadway Season Tickets on Sunday, January 25 from 12pm to 3pm at The Paramount Theatre. Special discounted prices of up to 20% savings will be available for one day only, on remaining subscription seats for the four-show Broadway series. Guests can meet one-on-one with box office staff to review available subscription seats and secure tickets in-hand for the 2009 Broadway season. The four-show package includes: FROST/NIXSON - May 6 - May 10 WICKED- September 2 - October 4 AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY- October 27 - November 1 FIDDLER ON THE ROOF- November 27 - December 5 Guests who purchase a subscription seat for the new season will also be eligible for the benefits of being a Season Ticket Holder, including the first opportunity to purchase tickets to the Broadway engagement extras: CATS (April 15 - 19) and RENT (June 16 - 21). Purchase to Disney's THE LION KING (February 11 - March 15) can be made at this time as well. This free special event will also include backstage tours of the historic Paramount Theatre, live music by Dennis James playing Broadway hits on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ and light refreshments will be provided by Il Fornaio.

Nickelodeon and Broadway Across America are teaming up to bring 'Dora the Explorer Live! Search for the City of Lost Toys,' starring the world's most famous Latina explorer, to Raleigh's Memorial Auditorium from February 20-22.

'Tonight, Tonight'...WEST SIDE STORY Completes DC Run 1/17

West Side Story returned to where it all began for the show in 1957, the National Theatre in Washington, DC. official out of town performance period. West Side Story played a limited engagement at the National with the final 'Somewhere' being sung 'Tonight' (forgive us-but too easy) January 17th, 2009. The cast will next bring the classic story to life on the stage of The Palace Theatre on Febuary 23rd, the first scheduled preview performance. West Side Story's official Opening Night on Broadway is set for March 19th, 2009. The producers of West Side Story have assembled a dynamic cast for the new Broadway production. The cast of 37 stars Matt Cavenaugh (A Catered Affair, Grey Gardens) as 'Tony,' Karen Olivo (In the Heights) as 'Anita,' Cody Green (Movin' Out) as 'Riff' and George Akram (The Farrelly's Stuck on You) as 'Bernardo.' The role of 'Maria' will be played by Broadway newcomer Josefina Scaglione. The 21 year old actress comes directly, by special arrangement with Actors' Equity Association, from Buenos Aires after an exhaustive international search for the role. She created the role of Amber Von Tussle in the Argentinean production of Hairspray and the title role in Cinderella. Miss Scaglione is a classically trained opera singer who has received critical acclaim appearing as a soloist in the nation's most prestigious concert halls.

JFK Center Celebrates 12th Anniversary With BROADWAY TODAY

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts celebrates the 12th Anniversary of the Millennium Stage on January 31, 2009 with 'Broadway Today'-a star-studded, free concert, produced by Michael A. Kerker and presented in cooperation with ASCAP, in the Opera House as a part of the Center's season-long artistic initiative Broadway: The Third Generation. With the composers at the piano, original cast members and Broadway stars perform signature songs that made these artists household names. Free tickets are required. Tickets will be given away one (1) per person in line in front of the Opera House beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2009.

Casting Announced For THE LION KING In Seattle

Casting is announced today for the Seattle engagement of Disney's THE LION KING. Seattle's most eagerly awaited stage production ever will leap onto the Paramount Theatre stage from Wednesday, February 11 through Sunday, March 15. The media opening night is Friday, February 13 at 8 pm. This Seattle engagement is one of seven current productions running worldwide along with New York, London, Hamburg, Tokyo, Paris and Fukuoka.

'Kimmel Center Presents' Series Gets New Leadership

Thomas Warner, who joined the Center in 1999, two years before its opening, has been named Vice President of Programming. Warner who first served as Program Manager, then as Director of Programming, will be responsible for the 'Kimmel Center Presents' series in the Kimmel Center and the Academy of Music-ranging across performance genres including classical, dance, jazz, world and popular entertainment. Warner will also be responsible for 'Free at the Kimmel,' a popular series of programs in Commonwealth Plaza open to the public free of charge.

Boeing-Boeing Flies Off of Broadway Today; Tour Launches This Fall

The 2008 Tony Award Winning Best Play Revival, Boeing-Boeing, will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, January 4, 2009, when the current cast's contracts end. Upon closing, Boeing-Boeing will have played 280 performances and 17 previews. The critically acclaimed comedy, which recouped its entire $2.65 million investment this September, will launch a 45-week national tour this fall. Prior to its Broadway engagement, Boeing-Boeing enjoyed a wildly successful run at London's Comedy Theatre from February 2007 - January 2008.

13 Plays Final Performance on Broadway Today
