Stop the Silence Presents TO KILL A KELPIE, 4/6-15

Stop the SilenceTM: Stop Child Sexual Abuse, Inc. (www.stopcsa.org) a nationwide, charitable, non-profit organization [501(c)(3)] at the forefront of comprehensive prevention and mitigation of child sexual abuse (CSA), today announced the upcoming Off-Broadway performances of the theater production of "To Kill A Kelpie" from April 6th, 2012 through April 15, 2012 consecutively running at the Theatre 80 Playhouse (www.theatre80.net) and St. Luke's Theatre (http://stlukestheatre.com/) in New York City. The play found earlier commercial success in both the United Kingdom and the United States. "To Kill A Kelpie" is an original theatre production inspired by Stop the Silence programming about the moment when two brothers speak about the thing that has never been spoken of before. It is written by and stars the Scottish playwright and actor Matthew McVarish, directed by Sandy Thomson, and supported by Creative Scotland (http://www.creativescotland.com) in association with The Moira Anderson Foundation (http://www.moiraanderson.org). "We are proud and honored to co-produce this magnificent production with Poorboy Theatre Productions (http://thebellrock.org/). It is one of the many activities we use to promote Awareness, Prevention, and Healing regarding child sexual abuse," stated Executive Producer of the production and Founder of Stop the Silence," Pamela Pine.

Matthew McVarish as Fionnghall in 'Kelpie' is an actor, a playwright, and a published songwriter. He has a degree in acting from Queen Margaret School of Drama and a Master Degree in Classic and Contemporary text from Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Matthew has performed in TV, Radio and theatre for 6 years and is best known in UK, Europe and Australia as 'Raymond' in the BBC kids TV show 'Me Too!'. To Kill a Kelpie was his second professional production and his other works are currently being adapted for television and as children's books.

Allan Lindsay as Dubghall trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, graduating in 2008. Previous theatre credits include: The Snow Queen (Perth Theatre), Washed Up (Oran Mor/Paines Plough), The Severed Head of Comrade Bukhari (The Arches/Traverse Theatre), The World Turned Upside Down (Oran Mor). Previous television credits include: Case Histories (BBC), Dani's House (RDF Media/CBBC), Taggart (SMG).

Sandy Thomson, Director, a 25-year veteran of directing, trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, directed Poorboy for commissions with The National Theatre of Scotland, and has created work for the Made in Scotland Edinburgh Festival Showcase. She was nominated as Best Director and for Best Production for the Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS).
