The Playwrights Realm will present the 2013 Writers Block Party at Astor Center, 399 Lafayette Street, on Tuesday, April 23 at 6:30pm.

This year's Writers Block Party highlights include the return of the legendary High End Yard Sale, featuring super-exclusive goodies, delicious snacks and specialty cocktails, and the first-ever performance potluck event Play-B-Que: Flash-Fried to Slow-Roasted, emceed by Playwrights Realm Board member Anna Deavere Smith.

In Play-B-Que: Flash-Fried to Slow-Roasted, Realm playwrights past and present serve up delectable morsels about the tough and tender process of writing a play. Morsels include:

- The Process by current Writing Fellow Chad Beckim
- exacting revenge and bringing back the dead by past Writing Fellow Christopher Oscar Peña
- Unblocked by Alumni Playwright Jen Silverman (Crane Story)
- and a special musical number by Page One Playwright Ethan Lipton (Red-Handed Otter)

"I always look forward to this chance to celebrate our amazing playwrights with the supporters, audience, and artists who bring their work to life," said Ms. Kovner, founder of Playwrights Realm, "and I can't think of a better way to celebrate than with these hilarious short pieces specially written by Realm writers Chad Beckim, Christopher Oscar Peña, Jen Silverman, and Ethan Lipton about the not-always-glorious process of creating plays."

Tickets for the Writers Block Party range from $75 (performance-only ticket) to $5,000 sponsor packages. Tickets can be purchased online at www.playwrightsrealm.org, via phone at 212-255-3089, or via email at kweber@playwrightsrealm.org.

All proceeds from the Writers Block Party will go toward Playwrights Realm's programs, including the Writing Fellowship, the Page One Program, and the Alumni Playwrights Group.
