Free Readings at Michael Weller Theatre Oct. 9 & 10

On The Leesh Productions, Inc. presents a series of readings of works in progress on the dark nights of A Yorkshire Fairie Tale, Off Broadway, at the Michael Weller Theatre, 311 West 43rd Street (6th Floor), NYC.  The free readings continue this coming Tuesday, October 9 at 7:30PM with Suzy's Wedding Day written by Thomas Diggs and directed by Michael Rau. 

"Suzy's eccentric parents had the foresight to reserve the site for her wedding day – the day she was born.  Just in case she forgot to get married by her 30th birthday.  That birthday is quickly approaching.  With no husband on the horizon and more unfinished business than a single girl can carry, Suzy does the best she can to face the wedding music and move forward with her life," explain press notes.

Wednesday, October 10 at 7:30PM will be A Tale of Taxidermy written by Jon Ecklund and directed by Nancy Robillard.  This is a modern telling of Anton Chekhov's The Segull.

On The Leesh Productions, Inc. is currently presenting A Yorkshire Fairie Tale by Thomas H. Diggs, Off Broadway, at the Michael Weller Theatre, 311 West 43rd Street (6th Floor), NYC.  The new play opened October 1 (previews began Friday, September 28).  It is directed by Nancy Robillard and stars Jessica Arinella, Paul DeCordova, Matt Rashid, Peter Russo, Susan Wands.  The wonderful Set Design is by Diana Whitten; with Costume Design by Jessica Jahn and Lighting Design by Chris Conti.  The play is inspired by the Cottingley Fairy Hoax.     For more information please visit    

"A Yorkshire Fairie Tale is a coming-of-age story about Dulcie, a thirteen-year-old girl, who fakes photographs of fairies in order to save her relationship with her mother, which has been torn apart by the First World War. With the help of Francis, an eccentric male friend, Dulcie manages to create a series of photographs that not only cheer up her mother, but also entertain a nation. Dulcie's celebrity around the faked photos goes too far as her life becomes unbearable watching her mother go 'round the bend.' Dulcie decides to stop all talk of fairies, betray her eccentric cohort, and give up her celebrity status in order to preserve what's left of her family," explain press notes.
