Variety reports that a pair of classic one-acts by three-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee is on the 2007-2008 line-up for the Cherry Lane Theater.

If no scheduling conflict appears, Albee (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Seascape, A Delicate Balance, The Goat) may also direct the one-acts - The American Dream and The Sandbox - at the historic Off-Broadway playhouse, where both premiered in the early '60s.  The American Dream, a family satire, and The Sandbox will begin previews on March 4th, 2008 and open on March 18th.  Albee's Peter and Jerry opens at Second Stage this fall, and Occupant at Signature Theatre Company in the spring.

Next season, the Cherry Lane will also present Katori Hall's Hoodoo Love, which "follows a Mississippi woman who flees the cotton fields to become a blues singer."  Directed by Lucie Tiberghien, it will begin previews on October 16th, 2007 and open on October 29th.  Hoodoo Love was part of the Cherry Lane's 2006 Mentor Project, in which young playwrights are mentored by established dramatists.  Michael Weller, Charles Fuller and Jules Feiffer will be among this year's mentoring playwrights.
