Broadway-Bound 'In the Heights' to Film TV Commerical
On Tuesday, July 24th, In the Heights will shoot a TV commercial on location in Washington Heights to promote its fall Broadway engagement.
Although In the Heights will open on Broadway Fall 2007, theatre and dates are not yet confirmed. The new musical played its final performance Off-Broadway at 37 Arts (450 West 37th Street) on Sunday, July 15, 2007 after a run of 33 previews and 181 regular performances.
With music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, In the Heights was directed Off-Broadway by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler. Alex Lacamoire was music director and music arrangements were by Alex Lacamoire and Bill Sherman. Lin-Manuel Miranda also starred in the role of Usnavi. Full casting for the Broadway production will be confirmed at a later date.

The music pulses with the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition," as described in press notes. In the Heights also starred Priscilla Lopez, Mandy Gonzalez, Andrea Burns, Christopher Jackson, Robin de Jesus and Karen Olivo, among others.
