NYU STEINHARDT'S NEW PLAYS FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES TYA DEVELOPMENTAL SERIES JUNE 2026 - NYC/Provincetown Playhouse Non Equity Auditions

New Plays for Young Audiences at NYU Steinhardt is accepting audition submissions online for its June 2026 series between April 1-15!

Auditions are held online with actors submitting their materials between April 1-15 and artistic teams reviewing them between April 16-May 7. Actors may be asked to participate in an online callback. Actors will receive a confirmation email within 5 business days of their submission. Actors need to provide a 1-3 minute recorded monologue (on YouTube or Vimeo), headshot, and resume. For the musical, a 1-3 minute recorded song is also needed.

The development series takes place over the course of three weeks between June 1-21 with a new script and cast each week of development. Each week of development is approximately 30 hours in total occurring in the evenings and one weekend. Actors will be paid $500 (per script/week of development) with current NYU Steinhardt student actors receiving an award in that amount. We are looking for actors with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Actors may audition for one, two, or all three scripts. Week two’s (The Time Machine) script is a musical and week three’s script (Camp Cattywampus) is a play with music. For more information on each script, check out our

The series (developmental rehearsals and rehearsed readings) takes place in the historic Provincetown Playhouse in the heart of Greenwich Village just a half block from Washington Square Park (133 MacDougal Street). It is held within the Program in Educational Theatre, in the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions within NYU Steinhardt.

Developmental rehearsals in weeks 1 (6/1-6/7) and 2 (6/8-6/14) are from 6-10pm, Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 1-5pm. For week 3 (6/15-6/21), developmental rehearsals are from 5-10pm, Monday through Thursday; Saturday from 1-5pm. Rehearsed readings will be on Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 2pm each weekend of the series with your call an hour prior.
