Hazel - Drury Lane Theatre Non Equity Auditions

HAZEL CHILDREN'S OPEN CALL Drury Lane is seeking strong child actor/singers for world premier production of HAZEL based on the character created by Ted Key and Emmy Award winning TC series. All of the children’s roles are bright outcasts, in a club all their own. Ideally, actors older than eight who can play eight. Other than Harold Baxter, can be multi-ethnic. A description for all available roles is below. Audition Date: 11/10/15 Time: 3:30pm-5:30pm. To be see you must arrive at Drury Lane and check in with the monitor no later than 4:45pm! Prepare: One 32 bar cut of Broadway Pop or Pop music. Bring your sheet music in your key with all cuts notated. Director may ask to hear an additional song. ROLES AVAILABLE: HAROLD BAXTER – (8) Underneath that all-American Exterior lies a very imaginative, enthusiastic and intense obsessive-compulsive; a pitbull about any idea, project or suspicion and a natural leader. A factoid re outer space, and never removes space helmet. Matt Damon by way of Jesse Eisenberg. Strong singer. SCOTTY FUYU – (8) Nerdy, analytical; always measuring, assessing, making assumptions, connections, theories, about everything. Always wears slide rule on a lanyard. He is Harold’s genius side-kick, but more shy and sensitive than him. BENEDETTA BOMICINO – (8) Too adult for the room, feels surrounded by idots, and that it is her purpose in life to advise and educate them. Tina Fey by way of Lisa Simpson. REUBEN STEUBEN – (9) Spacey and philosophical loner; he ponders life’s mysteries, asking questions more to himself or the world, rarely talking directly to anyone in the room with him. The child of Christopher Walken and Steven Wright. Kid, maybe more of a “character” voice.
