The White Plains Performing Arts Center is seeking both AEA & non-union performers for Finding Neverland. We are seeking a cast with fantastic singing, acting and dancing abilities to play principal and supporting roles (breakdown below.)

Please note there is NO housing for this production. Theater is located 35 minutes from NYC.

SYNOPSIS

Based on the movie, Finding Neverland tells the story of J.M. Barrie, the playwright who created ‘Peter Pan’. As Barrie struggles to find inspiration for his next play, his life takes a turn when he encounters a family, including the widow Sylvia and her four sons. Barrie’s relationship with the family deepens and he begins crafting the timeless tale of ‘Peter Pan’. The show explores themes of imagination, friendship, and the spirit of childhood, perfect for the whole family.

IMPORTANT DATES

1st Rehearsal: November 24 (rehearses in NYC, within 10am-6pm range)

Tech: December 5-11 in White Plains
Shows: Dec 12-14, 17-21, 26-29, Jan 2-4 (3-5 performances/week)

*There are no performances on any holidays


Please bring any and all conflicts to the auditions and note that the rehearsals times may vary. You must be available for all shows and tech week to audition.

CONTRACT

LORT-LOA

**Total of 3-5 performances/week

$550/week minimum for AEA actors + Pension/6 health weeks

Non-union: Fee Minimum $2,500+(based on role)

Theatre anticipates having 4-5 total AEA contracts available for this production. Travel via MNR provided.

Casting Breakdown:

J.M. BARRIE (Male 30-40)- A successful Scottish Playwright with a rebellious, childlike spirit that is entirely benevolent. He is at odds with the sensible, restrained world around him. Must have an excellent pop/rock tenor voice a sense of humor, and a genuine heart.

CHARLES FROHMAN/HOOK – Male, 50’s. A wealthy American impresario who has stood by Barrie for much of his career. Known as “The Napoleon of Drama”. Must have an excellent pop/rock bari-tenor sound.

SYLVIA LLEWELYN DAVIES – Female, 25 –35. A recent widow and mother of 4 boys, she encourages her boys to be free thinkers and is one herself. Must have a strong pop/rock belt and mix as well as strong soprano notes

MRS. DU MAURIER (Female Age 45+) - A socialite, patron of the arts, and mother of Sylvia, She holds social etiquette in high esteem and wants her daughter to do the same. Steely on the outside, perhaps to a fault, but wants the best for her daughter and grandchildren. She has a very dry sense of humor. Must have a strong alto voice with pop/rock sensibility.

MARY BARRIE (Female Age 28-40)– The wife of J.M. Barrie, she cares about the trappings of society. She and her husband do not share the same interest and live progressively separate lives. Must have a strong pop/rock sound as well as strong soprano. She will double into the ensemble for Act 2, plays a mermaid in Peter Pan.

YOUTH ROLES *Unpaid

· GEORGE - He is the oldest of the Davies boys. George is most sensible and mature though still able to play and have fun. Takes charge when he needs to. Must be a very strong mover and have a pop/rock voice. Must be comfortable being lifted. Age 12-14

· JACK - He is the second oldest of the boys, He is the naughtiest and most outlandish, but even his cheek comes from a good heart. Must have strong movement skills and an unchanged pop/rock voice. Must be comfortable being lifted. Age 10-12

· PETER - He is the second youngest of the boys. Peter is buried under the grief of losing his father. Thoughtful and considered, initially angry and contained, he goes on a journey from 'not believing' to opening up and embracing the world of magic and play that Barrie presents to him. Must move very well and have an unchanged pop/rock voice and very strong falsetto. Must be comfortable being lifted. Age 8-10

· MICHAEL - He is the youngest of the boys, is also possibly the loudest and most confident in his actions and his statements. Unknowingly funny. This character wears a dress in a make-believe performance in the show. Must have an unchanged pop/rock voice. Must be comfortable being lifted. Age 6-8

· YOUTH MALE UNDERSTUDY – Covers both George and Jack. Must be comfortable being lifted. Age 9-14

ENSEMBLE: (NON UNION)

LORD CANNAN/ENSEMBLE (Male Age 25-35)– A wealthy investor in new plays. Plays a pirate in Peter Pan.

ALBERT/ENSEMBLE (Male 20’s) – A servant of the Barries. Plays a pirate in Peter Pan. Age 20+

POLICEMAN/HENSHAW/THOMAS/ENSEMBLE (Male 40’s): Henshaw is an uppity older flamboyant “grand thespian” actor, strong comedic timing. Plays Nana the Dog in Peter Pan.

PARK KEEPER/TURPIN/ENSEMBLE (Male 25-35)– Plays Captain Hook in Peter Pan.

ELLIOT /ENSEMBLE (Male 20’s)– Mr. Frohman’s stage manager, strong comedic timing.

ICE CREAM MAN/CROMER/ENSEMBLE (Male 30-40) – An over emotional actor who plays Michael in Peter Pan. Strong comedic timing. Baritone/Tenor.

NANNY/JONES/ENSEMBLE (Female 25-30)– Plays a Mermaid in Peter Pan.

BASSETT/EMILY/ENSEMBLE (Female 20-30) – Basset is an actress. Emily is a lead servant for the Barries. Plays Wendy in Peter Pan. Must be comfortable being lifted.

DOROTHY POTTER/LAEL/ENSEMBLE (Female 30’s)- Plays the Crocodile in Peter Pan.

PETER PAN/ENSEMBLE (Female 20-30) –Plays Peter Pan in the show, a strong dancer who sings well. Must be comfortable being lifted.

-Please sing a cut of a song from the show (preferred). We have provided a few song options you can use in the material link below.

-No in person audition/callback invites will go out until all videos are viewed as pre-screens. Week of Oct 20th
