Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative, the resident theatre company of the Colonial Theatre, is trying something different in 2025 by celebrating Christmas twice! Besides its annual production of A Christmas Carol in December, this year Powerhouse is producing Elf the Musical in August and auditions are May 5th and 6th at the Colonial Theatre.
Elf the Musical is based on the very popular holiday season classic movie, Elf, starring Will Ferrell. In the musical version, like the movie, a human named Buddy discovers he isn’t actually an elf and sets out from the North Pole to find his dad, a serious publishing executive who lives in New York City. Buddy’s journey involves connecting with his half-brother, finding a girlfriend, and of course saving Christmas! Full of catchy show tunes and silly comedy, this show will be fun for the whole family!
And the whole family is welcome to audition! Roles are available for kids 6 and up and adults of all ages to take part in this fun show. All the information on how to prepare and sign up for auditions can be found at
powerhousenh.org/auditions. Auditions will consist of readings from the script, singing a song of your choosing, and a short dance combination. Not all roles in the show will require dancing. If you’ve been looking for an opportunity to become part of Powerhouse and perform on the Colonial stage this might be the show for you!
