ABOUT THE SHOW:
Deathtrap is a masterful blend of suspense, mystery, and dark comedy written by Ira Levin. The story centers on Sidney Bruhl, a once-successful playwright desperate to regain his status. When a young writer sends him a brilliant new script, Sidney hatches a twisted plan to claim it as his own — leading to shocking twists, betrayals, and a murder that may or may not be what it seems.
This play is self-aware, filled with biting wit, clever turns, and moments that keep audiences gasping and laughing in equal measure.

Please prepare: A 1–2 minute monologue in the style of the show (dark comedy, thriller, or classic drama). Cold readings from the script may also be provided.
REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals will begin shortly after auditions and will typically be held 2–3 evenings per week with occasional weekend rehearsals. Tech week is October 5–9, and attendance is mandatory.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Note: Ages are stage ages and flexible. We encourage actors of all backgrounds and identities to audition.
Sidney Bruhl (Male, 40s–60s): A once-successful playwright, charismatic but jaded. Intelligent, manipulative, and teetering on the edge of desperation. A juicy, layered role.
Clifford Anderson (Male, 20s–30s): A young, ambitious playwright. Charming with a hidden edge. A mysterious presence — both earnest and cunning.
Myra Bruhl (Female, 40s–60s): Sidney’s wealthy and supportive wife. Gentle and refined, but not naïve. She is more perceptive than she seems.
Helga ten Dorp (Female, 40s–70s): A famous Dutch psychic staying nearby. Quirky, eccentric, and comedic — steals every scene she’s in.
Porter Milgrim (Male, 40s–60s): Sidney’s lawyer and friend. Grounded and professional, but gets pulled into Sidney’s chaos.
