Local Auditions--LaComedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio, is holding an open call audition for its upcoming production of Roald Dahl’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY on Saturday, April 4th, at 9:00am at 765 W. Central Ave. Springboro, Ohio.

SEEKING (all ethnicities are encouraged to audition)

Willy Wonka
The sly, charming star of the show. Lithe, eccentric. His larger than life persona can go from charming and comical, to magically mysterious and dark. Gender: male, age 18+
Vocal range: G4-A2

Charlie Bucket
Sweet, smart, hopeful and loving. A boy with wonderful innocence and vulnerability. Gender: male, age 9-14. Vocal range F5-G#3

Grandpa Joe
Impish. He is Charlie's imaginative, fun, kind and loving grandfather. After many years being confined to a bed, his childish energy returns when Charlie finds the Golden Ticket. Gender: male, age 40+, Vocal range : G4-G#2

Mrs. Bucket
Charlie's warm and kind-hearted mother. Worrier. Generous and loving. Gender: female, age 18+. Vocal range : E5-G3

Grandma Josephine
Gender: female, age 18+. Vocal range: D5-C4

Grandma Georgina
Gender: female, age 18+. Vocal range: E5-Ab3

Grandpa George
Gender: male, age 18+. Vocal range: E4-F2

Mrs. Gloop
Augustus's German, moronic, Wagnerian mother. Mirthlessly smiles as though it were affixed to the front of her face. Gender: female, age 18+. Vocal range: D5-Bb3

Augustus Gloop
Rampantly over-active. Gender: male, age 15 years or older, (no taller than 5’6”). Vocal range: G5-Bb3

Mr. Salt
Veruca's goofy, eccentric, distracted, hilarious father. Finds it impossible to say no, giving in to every ridiculous demand his daughter makes. Gender: male, age 18+. Vocal range: Ab4Ab2

Veruca Salt
Vicious and determined. Gender: female, age 15 years or older, (no taller than 5’6”). Vocal range: Db5

Mr. Beauregarde
Violet's ineffectual father. Ignores his back-talking, insult-hurling daughter. Gender: male, age 18+. Vocal range: G4-F#3

Violet Beauregarde
Confident, forward, and full of attitude. Gender: female, age 15 years or older, (no taller than 5’6”). Vocal range: F#5-C#4

Mike Teavee
A fireplug with a ridiculous amount of energy. Gender: male, age 15 years or older, (no taller than 5’6”).Vocal range: Bb4-G3

Mrs. Teavee
She needs amphetamines to get through the day and deal with her outrageous son. Tense, extreme, and hilarious. Gender: female, age 18+. Vocal range: Eb5-G3

ENSEMBLE (18 and older, all genders and ethnicities) The members of the ensemble need to be strong singer, movers/dancers as they will be used in many capacities throughout the show.

Prepare 16 bars of music in the style of the show or a number from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Score. Be prepared for cold readings and dance call.

Rehearsals: June 8th, 2026-June 20th, 2026 (Mon-Sat 9am-6pm.)
Tech: June 22nd-June 24th, 2026.
Performances: June 25th-August 9th, 2026. Thurs-Sun matinees and evenings.
Rehearsal and performance conflicts will not be accepted.

Adult performers are paid biweekly. Meal each performance, gym membership, worker's comp provided.
