International Dance Piece PEARL to Launch North American Tour in Montreal

After a successful run at Broadway's Lincoln Center in August 2015, Pearl, the Canadian-American-Chinese dance theatre spectacular, inspired by the life of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Pearl S. Buck, begins its North American tour in Montreal. From June 14 to 18, there will be 5 nightly performances at 8pm in the Sandra and Leo Kolber Centre of the Imperial Theatre, located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles at 1432 Bleury.

Following sold out performances across the country, Montreal-based storyteller and choreographer, Stephanie Morin-Robert, is bringing her one-woman show, BLINDSIDE, to Montreal's Theatre Ste-Catherine for three days only. This award-winning physical comedy is Stephanie's personal account of growing up with cancer and a glass eye, and the struggle of turning a disadvantage into a superpower. Boasting successful runs at the Refinery (Saskatoon SK), UnoFest (Victoria BC), and the Phenomenal Festival (Montreal QC), BLINDSIDE returns to Montreal from March 17th-19th in anticipation of a tour of the national Fringe Festival circuit in summer 2016.
Cole Foundation Announces Intercultural Theatre Grant Recipients

The Cole Foundation is pleased to announce the latest grant winners for the Intercultural Conversations-Conversations Interculturelles (IC-CI) program, established to encourage greater understanding of Montreal's cultural mosaic by having audiences enjoy professional plays showing diverse cultures on stage and seeing their stories presented. Barry Cole, president and chairman of the Cole Foundation, explains: "Our belief is that these financial awards animate change of theatre practice to include intercultural conversation as part of mainstream theatrical society." There are three types of intercultural dialogue considered: plays with more than one cultural community in dialogue; plays with only one cultural community- in this case the dialogue is with the audience; and plays that show the uniqueness of the French or English Quebec communities translated into the other language.
