Paul: (CAST) 40s–50s, male-presenting. A famous novelist held captive by his “number one fan,” Paul is intelligent, resourceful, and emotionally resilient; must convey vulnerability and strength, often while physically restrained.

Rosetta: A confident, pioneering gospel singer and guitarist. Charismatic and strong-willed, she bridges gospel and early rock and roll with powerful music and a deep faith. African American woman, 30-50.

Marie: (CAST) 20s–30s, Black, female-presenting. A young, poised, and devout gospel singer with a powerful voice and quiet strength; initially reserved, she grows into a confident performer and partner to Rosetta.
