Preparation
For CHRISTMAS ON THE ROCKS and FREUD'S LAST SESSION, prepare a two-minute comedic monologue.

For THE OTHER PLACE, sides will be provided at the audition.

For WOODY SEZ, prepare a 90 second monologue and a one-minute musical piece

All bring a picture and resume, stapled together

CHRISTMAS ON THE ROCKS

Writer: Various Playwrights
1st rehearsal: November 19, 2013. Runs: December 3 – December 22, 2013.

Preparation: Please prepare a two-minute comedic monologue.

ALL ROLES HAVE BEEN CAST. Auditions are being held for emergency replacements ONLY

Man
CAST. 40s, character actor who must be able to play multiple Christmas characters who have now aged. They must be able to go from one very distinct character from another and must have great comic timing.

Woman
CAST. 40s character actor who must be able to play multiple Christmas characters who have grown up. The actor must be able to go from one very distinct character to another and must have impeccable comic timing.

Bartender
CAST. Male 60s-70s character actor. He must be the straight man for a lot of jokes, but also be able to communicate directly to the audience with subtle, simple looks. He is willing to go on whatever journey the patrons of his bar take him on. He is a great listener and must be impeccable at giving the stage over to the other two actors without distracting.

FREUD’S LAST SESSION
Stage Director: Max Williams
Writer: Mark St. Germain
1st rehearsal: December 27, 2013. Runs: January 17 – February 23, 2014.

Preparation: Please prepare a two-minute monologue.

ALL ROLES HAVE BEEN CAST. Auditions are being held for emergency replacements ONLY.

Sigmund Freud:
CAST. Actual age 83; may be cast significantly younger. Found of modern psychiatry. Intellectually relentless, Freud uses his wit as a weapon. Though dying of cancer, Freud summons all his strength in this battle of beliefs he has dedicated his life to.

C.S. Lewis:
CAST. Age 40; Christian convert and Oxford Don teaching medieval literature who has not yet achieved the fame he did later in life. Freud’s intellectual equal, Lewis relishes the confrontation between their contrasting world views. Charming and warm; Lewis possesses a penetrating and disarming sense of humor.

THE OTHER PLACE

1st rehearsal: March 4, 2014. Runs: March 14 – April 19, 2014.

Preparation: Sides will be provided at the audition (actors are strongly advised to read the play prior to auditions). Visually-impaired performers with no Internet access may request an advance copy of sides by calling 860-527-7838.

Juliana
CAST. Female, early 50s. A sharply charismatic scientist, fiercely intelligent. She is charming, dry and utterly unsentimental. She works in a highly competitive field which makes her very impatient towards anything below her intelligence. She is currently going thru early stages of dementia, ironically the very disease that she studied as a doctor, this make her often times confused and angry. She refuses to believe it’s happening to her She has confused a lot of her relationships and often time lashes out at loved ones.

Ian
CAST. Male, early 50s an oncologist. After being married to such a driven women for years he is now having the responsibility of helping her deal with her dementia. He is very patient and often times placates many of her delusional stories, but she is a very strong willed woman and really pushes him to the edge of his comfort level.

The Woman
CAST. Late 20s to early 30s, portraying numerous characters throughout the play. One role, Laurel, Julianna’s daughter, tired young mother who has become separated from her mother. This is the image of what Julianne thinks her daughter would be like after the years of them not speaking. The younger Laurel is an angry youth who wants nothing to do with her parents. And the other major role is the psychiatrist who is trying to help Juliana sort through her memories and feelings as she is dealing with the dementia which she refuses to believe is true.

The Man
CAST. Late thirties, portraying multiple characters. One is Richard, the son-in-law of Juliana who was a researching partner with her, but his career was destroyed by her after he ran way with her daughter. This is what Juliana thinks Richard would be like if they were still speaking. He also plays a couselor, Bobby at the end of the play where he is helping Ian and Juliana with the dementia.



WOODY SEZ: THE LIFE & MUSIC OF WOODY GUTHRIE

Writer: Various
1st rehearsal: August 5, 2014. Runs: August 8 – September 14, 2014.

Preparation: Please prepare a 90 second monologue and a one-minute musical piece.

All roles have been CAST.
Seeking: Auditions are being held for emergency replacements ONLY. Actors must also be musicians.

Man 1
CAST. Mid 30-mid 50s, able to play multiple instruments in addition to performing in the play. Must be able to play multiple characters that range throughout Woody Guthrie’s life. Also must be versatile in his ability to sing a variety of Woody’s song.

Man 2
CAST. Late 30s to late 40s. Must be able to play multiple instruments, sing, and act. He should be a character man who has the ability to play multiple men in Woody Guthrie’s life.

Woman 1
CAST, mid 30-mid 50s, able to play multiple instruments in addition to performing in the play. Must be able to play multiple characters that range throughout Woody Guthrie’s life. Also must be versatile in his ability to sing a variety of Woody’s song.

Woman 2
CAST, late 30s to late 40s. Must be able to play multiple instruments, sing, and act. He should be a character man who has the ability to play multiple men in Woody Guthrie’s life.
