All Roles Will Be Understudied.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a short song cut (equivalent to 1 minute) and bring your book in case the team needs to hear more. An accompanist will be provided. Also, please bring your headshot and resume stapled together. Marriott Theatre will take video submissions for all shows announced at a later date.

MARRIOTT THEATRE 2026 SEASON (TYA)

Casting Note: Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming casting process. The team strives to lead with respect, kindness, and generosity. In regard to the character descriptions – they outline the characters as described in the script and in consultation with the creative team. They do not aim to be all-encompassing representations of who might fill these roles. We aim for an expansive and deliberate casting process. We acknowledge that the characters in the script are traditionally presented as either male or female (using he/him or she/her pronouns). We warmly welcome submissions from individuals who identify as gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, or non-binary for the roles that resonate most with their identity.

SEEKING:

  • WILLY WONKA (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 30s+): The sly, charming star of the show. A persona larger than life can go from charming and comical to magically mysterious and dark. He is looking for someone new to take over his candy empire.
  • CHARLIE BUCKET (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 10 - 14 years old): Sweet, smart, hopeful, and loving. A child with wonderful innocence and vulnerability.
  • GRANDPA JOE (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 50s+): Charlie’s imaginative, fun, kind, and loving grandfather. After many years of being confined to a bed, his childish energy returns when Charlie finds the Golden Ticket.
  • MRS. GLOOP (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 40s+): Augustus Gloop's Mother, who is constantly trying to satisfy their child’s insatiable appetite. Doubles as: MRS. GREEN, a kind second-hand vegetable salesman. GRANDMA JOSEPHINE, one of Charlie’s Grandparents.
  • MRS. TEAVEE (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 40s+): Tense, extreme, and hilarious. She needs amphetamines to get through the day and deal with her outrageous son. Doubles as: GRANDMA GEORGINA, one of Charlie’s Grandparents.
  • MR. SALT (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 40s+): Veruca’s goofy, eccentric, distracted, hilarious father. Finds it impossible to say no, giving in to every ridiculous demand his daughter makes. He believes that money can solve any problem. Doubles as: GRANDPA GEORGE, one of Charlie’s Grandparents.
  • MRS. BUCKET (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 30s+): Generous and loving. Charlie’s warm and kind-hearted mother. Doubles as: CHERRY SUNDAY, a zany and quick-witted reporter.
  • MR. BEAURGARDE (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 30s+): Violet's father, who is just as competitive and boastful as his daughter. He is obsessed with her success and is eager to capitalize on her newfound fame.
  • AUGUST GLOOP (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 10-14 years old): A gluttonous child who finds one of the Golden Tickets. His love for food often leads him into trouble.
  • VERUCA SALT (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 10 - 14 years old): Vicious and determined. A spoiled young girl who also discovers a Golden Ticket. Veruca is used to getting anything she wants and throws tantrums when she doesn't.
  • VIOLET BEAUREGARDE (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 10 - 14 years old): Confident, forward, and full of attitude. A competitive and gum-obsessed girl who is among the Golden Ticket winners.
  • MIKE TEAVEE (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 10 - 14 years old): A technology-obsessed boy who secures one of the Golden Tickets. Mike is obsessed with television, video games, and gadgets. A fireplug with a ridiculous amount of energy.

  • FROG (Open to all Genders and Ethnicities, 18+): Caring and loyal. Always looking out for their friends. The calmer, more zen of both Frog and Toad. Simultaneously adventurous and assured.
  • TOAD (Open to all Genders and Ethnicities, 18+): Anxious, a tad awkward, and a bit grumpy at times, but has a very big heart.
  • TRACK #3 (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): Various roles including: Bird, Turtle, Squirrel, Mother Frog, Mole.
  • TRACK #4 (Open to all Genders and Ethnicities, 18+): Bird, Mouse, Squirrel, Young Frog, Mole.

  • SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): An optimistic, energetic, and endlessly hopeful sea sponge. Always sees the best in every situation.
  • SANDY CHEEKS (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): A brainy, tough Texan squirrel who's also a scientist and martial artist. Smart, self-assured, and courageous.
  • PATRICK STAR (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): SpongeBob's best friend. Simple-minded, sweet, and surprisingly profound at times.
  • SQUIDWARD Q TENTACLES (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): A grumpy, frustrated artist who longs to be famous. Often misunderstood.
  • SHELDON J. PLANKTON (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): The scheming, comically evil owner of the Chum Bucket. Fast-talking and flamboyant.
  • KAREN THE COMPUTER/ ENSEMBLE (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): Plankton's sarcastic, tech-savvy wife. Witty, dry humor with a high-tech aesthetic.
  • MS. MAYOR OF BIKINI BOTTOM / ENSEMBLE (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): Overwhelmed and panicky, the Mayor is trying (and failing) to hold the town together.
  • MR. KRABS / ENSEMBLE (Male/Masc, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): The greedy but good-hearted owner of the Krusty Krab. Obsessed with money.
  • MRS. PUFF / PERCH PERKINS / ENSEMBLE (Female/Femme, Open to all Ethnicities, 18+): A dedicated but often stressed pufferfish who teaches SpongeBob at Boating School. Doubles as PERCH PERKINS: a lively news reporter.
