SEEKING
Equity actors for roles in MOTHER PLAY. Actors of all ethnicities and gender identities are encouraged to audition as our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible. Local actors are encouraged to audition.
PHYLLIS (Female, ages late 30s to late 70s/80s): A glamorous, exacting, and alcoholic matriarch who tries to control her children's lives. Emotionally chaotic, funny, and quick to anger, she gets into her stride on the 3rd martini. She hides her working-class background by a pretense of sophistication.
CARL (Male, ages 15–38): Phyllis's son, intelligent and supportive of his mother and sister. The genius in the family. Brilliant, funny, angry and fragile.
MARTHA (Female, ages 13–50): Phyllis's daughter, a central figure in the family's story, representing memory and the audience's guide through the events. She is the younger sister, the quieter one in the family and almost as smart as her brother.
