BREAKDOWN

JONAH

Storyline: Ana is on her own, a scholarship student at a boarding school, until she meets day-student Jonah. But what begins as an exploration of new and joyful desire shifts into more complex negotiations of intimacy and survival, covering decades in one woman’s life. Critically lauded in New York, Jonah is a story of rage, resilience, and the radical possibilities of trust by Studio favorite Rachel Bonds.

SEEKING:

[ANA] She/her. 30s. BIPOC. Also plays herself from 16 to 30s. Deeply intelligent and dry, she is a girl and then a woman with a vivid interior life that she shows to precious few. Raised on the outskirts of Detroit, she is on scholarship at a boarding school, where she takes comfort only in books, writing, and the safety of her dorm room. She is privately intrigued by her own sexuality and also terrified of it. When she meets Jonah, her guarded exterior starts to give way to vulnerability and desire. Once in her thirties, her once-guarded exterior hardens into armor.

[JONAH] He/him. 18+ to play late teens. BIPOC. A funny, strange, sensitive boy who has somehow carved a niche for himself in this world. A social chameleon, he is liked by everyone but not deeply known by anyone. He stays above the fray with his odd and charming sense of humor, but below the charisma he carries a well of grief. He is unabashedly interested in Ana and somehow his gaze feels thrilling and safe at the same time.
