Baker (30s–40s) — A warm-hearted, anxious, good man who deeply wants to be a parent. Earnest, flawed, and well-meaning. Has strong comedic timing and emotional depth. Baritone (A2–G4).
Baker’s Wife (30s–40s) — A smart, grounded, and resourceful woman who wants a child. She longs for more than her current life offers, but is not exactly sure what that is. Complex arc balancing humor, determination, and vulnerability. Excellent singer. Mezzo-soprano with belt (F3–G5).
The Witch (30s–50s) — A commanding, sarcastic, unpredictable, funny, and powerful woman. The obsessive protector of Rapunzel; straightforward and aggressive. On the surface self-serving and charismatic; inwardly insecure and lonely. Strongly comedic, strong mix/belt, able to shift from grotesque to beautiful. Mezzo-soprano with high belt (F3–G5; can extend up to C6).
Cinderella (20s–30s) — A kind, earnest, conflicted, and strong-willed woman with warm gentleness who is consistently mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. Lyrical soprano, excellent storytelling through song, comedic. Soprano (G3–G5).
Jack (late teens–20s) — An endearing, naïve, enthusiastic, and impulsive boy. Capable of sincere emotional connection, but also misled by his lack of knowledge. Tenor (A2–G4).

Cinderella’s Prince | Wolf (20s–40s) — Prince: A vain, dramatic, handsome, and comically overconfident man. He’s the hero in his own life and was raised to be charming, not sincere. Must play exaggerated confidence and humor with ease. Wolf: Playfully predatory, seductive, and humorous. Must embody the “tempting unknown.” Baritone (B2–F4).
Rapunzel’s Prince (20s–40s) — A handsome, goofy, earnest, and competitive young man. Loves to spar and challenge his brother. Strong comedic sensibility. Baritone (C#3–F4).
Rapunzel (20s–30s) — An innocent, sheltered, and emotional woman, prone to fits of hysteria as the show progresses. Legit soprano (B3–A5).
The Narrator | Mysterious Man (40s–60s) — Narrator: Wry and commanding presence as the storyteller/outside observer. Mysterious Man: Broken, anxious, and secretive, trying to right a wrong. Emotionally resonant. Character baritone (G2–E4).
The Steward | Cinderella’s Father (40s–50s) — Steward: Bossy, rule-bound, somewhat cowardly with comedic energy and a sharp edge. Cinderella’s Father: Detached, timid, and henpecked. Minimal vocal work. Baritone.
Jack’s Mother (40s–50s) — A long-suffering, practical woman. Loving of her son but frustrated by his naivety. Mezzo-soprano (Bb3–Db5).
Cinderella’s Stepmother (30s–50s) — A snobbish and cruel woman, only looking out for her own agenda, even at the expense of her daughters. Mezzo-soprano (A3–F#5).
Florinda & Lucinda (Stepsisters) | Snow White & Sleeping Beauty (20s–30s) — Stepsisters: Over-the-top, vain, bratty, and humorous women. Sings and moves well. Snow White & Sleeping Beauty: Shy, innocent, and demure; comic cameos. Mezzo-soprano/soprano (C4–F#5).
Granny | Giant’s Voice | Cinderella’s Mother (30s–50s) — Granny is tough and comedic; the Giant’s voice is extremely animated and will be altered live, powerful and intimidating. Cinderella’s Mother appears in a tree and sings extremely well. Soprano.
