Equity actors for roles in HEARTBREAK HOTEL (See breakdown). Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming casting process. The team strives to lead with respect, kindness, and generosity. In regard to the character descriptions – they outline the characters as described in the script and in consultation with the creative team. They do not aim to be all-encompassing representations of who might fill these roles.
We aim for an expansive and deliberate casting process. We acknowledge that the characters in the script are traditionally presented as either male or female (using he/him or she/her pronouns). We warmly welcome submissions from individuals who identify as gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, or non-binary for the roles that resonate most with their identity.

ELVIS PRESLEY - Male-Presenting. The King of Rock and Roll. Ideally looks and sounds like Elvis in the early part of his career. Embodies both the charming-yet-shy young man prior to stardom, as well as a charismatic superstar he became. Vocal Range: G2 - Ab4
KID ELVIS - Male presenting child/young teen, A young Elvis Presley. Vocal Range: G3 - B5
GLADYS PRESLEY - Female Presenting, Elvis’ mother and closest person in his life. Strong, Southern Woman. Overly-doting on Elvis but doesn’t put up with any BS. Vocal Range: C4 - C5
COLONEL TOM PARKER - Male Presenting, 50s - early 60s. Elvis’ unscrupulous, infamous manager. Driven purely by profit. Cigar-smoking, a big man and a big presence, former carnival barker and con-artist.
SAM PHILIPS - Male Presenting, Elvis’ first producer. Outspoken, tough but sensitive southern man. Had a true ear and passion for authentic music.
BETTY / ENSEMBLE - Female Presenting, 20s, Black/African American. Doubles as various characters.
DIXIE LOCKE / ANN MARGRET / ENSEMBLE - Female Presenting. Elvis’s teen girlfriend, Ann Margret and various characters throughout. Strong dancer and singer. If you have a dance reel, please include in your submission. Vocal Range: C4 - Bb4
PRISCILLA / ENSEMBLE - Female Presenting. Portrays Elvis’s future wife and various characters. Vocal Range: E4 - D5
VERNON PRESLEY / ENSEMBLE - Male Presenting. Portrays Elvis’s father and various characters.
SCOTTY MOORE/GLEN / ENSEMBLE - Male Presenting. Portrays Elvis’ first lead guitarist and various characters. Comedic and straight shooter. Ability to play the guitar is a plus but not required.
REVEREND BREWSTER / ROY BROWN / CHUCK / ENSEMBLE - Male Presenting. The influential African American Memphis minister and gospel composer whose church had a formative influence on a young Elvis Presley and various other characters. Vocal Range: A2 - G4
FRANK SINATRA / ENSEMBLE - Male Presenting. Frank Sinatra and various other characters. Vocal Range: C3 - D4
MARION KEISKER / ENSEMBLE - Female Presenting. Record Producer and various other characters.
ENSEMBLE - Male and Female Presenting singers, actors and dancers to play a variety of roles and voice ranges. Some of the roles are historical figures such as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Dewey Phillips, Jackie Brenston.
